Legan/Ballycloghan would like to thank Inny Anglers Fishing Club, Liam Tierney, all the parents and grandparents who helped out on Sunday last with the HSE Community Games Healthy Eating Events Award 2014 day out. A great day was had by all. Track and field events take place this Saturday, 21st and Sunday, 22nd June in Ballymahon GAA pitch. County field events will commence at 12pm on Saturday 21st, competitors to be at pitch at 11.30am. Track events will take place on Sunday 22nd, commencing at 11am. All children to be at venue for parade at 10.30am. Also to remind parents of children taking part that photo of competitors going forward to national finals will be taken for their ID. Legan/Ballycloghan Community Game committee will meet all children in Ballymahon at 10am to distribute new sports vests tops. All children should wear white T shirt and shorts. We wish all competitors the best of luck.
Results of Inny Anglers Lotto draw held in Sloweys for a jackpot of 5000 euro. Numbers drawn were 10, 21, 22 and 25. There was no jackpot winner. Special draw winners of 40 euro each were Fionn Cronin and John Boyce. This week’s draw takes place in The Hill, Carrickboy for a jackpot of 5050 euro.
Results of Legan Sarsfields GAA Lotto draw held on Monday, June 9th in Sloweys for a jackpot of 9550 euro. Numbers drawn were 9, 16, 20 and 30. There was no jackpot winner. Match three winners of 50 euro were Gavin & Glen and Caroline Nugent. This week’s draw took place in The Hill, Carrickboy and results will be published next week.
St Joseph’s Young Priests Society would like to thank all who supported their tea/coffee day and cake sale after masses recently. Especially, thanks to anyone who baked. A total of 341.75 euro was raised.
Aurora club tour
The next Aurora Club outing takes place on Thursday, 26th of June. This is our mystery tour which adds to the expectation. Booking is recommended, call Brigid or Valerie.
Naoi Rath Re 50/50
The winner of the Naoi Rath Re 50/50 held on Sunday last was Chris Kenny, Drumming. The prize was 280 euro.
Commemoration soccer match
Two Legan teams, present and former players showed great versatility at City Calling Park on Saturday last as they entertained the crowd for the Noel Nolan commemoration. The curtain raiser was a match with underage players. Blessed with the good weather, it was a very enjoyable event for all present, family friends and neighbours of the late Noel. Afterwards, all returned to The Hill, Carrickboy for refreshment music and craic. All proceeds raised goes to cancer research and development.
The pitch and putt play-off was held on Saturday last in the Acres, Ballinalee and five teams competing. Longford Town team 2 emerged overall winners with Legan ladies coming second. A very enjoyable day was had by all. A bus to the world flower show in the RDS leaves Longford at 8am and picks up members in Edgewortshtown at 8.20am. Craft day in Temperance Hall on Saturday, 5 July.
Barbecue and pig roasting
The annual barbeque and pig roasting family weekend takes place on Saturday, 28th and Sunday, 29th June in the grounds of Mitchell’s, Legan. This is a fundraiser for cancer Care and research at St Luke’s Hospital, Dublin. Tickets are on sale, which are already selling very well and can be obtained from any committee member. This is always a very enjoyable event. Full details of all next week.
Congratulations to all the people who recently celebrated special birthdays. To David Campbell, Tully who had a party for family friends and neighbours for his 60th at his son Keith’s new residence Mill View, Tully on Saturday night last. Also congratulations to Paul Greene who also celebrated a similar birthday and to his daughter Lisa, who celebrated her 21st at the family residence in Smithfield Crescent on Saturday last.
