Shane Brennan 5K run/walk is on St. Stephen’s Day at 1pm. The designated charity this year is a local one, Longford Special Olympics.

Thursday Club

The Newtownforbes Thursday Club meets in the parish hall every Thursday 2pm-4pm. There is a wide range of activities including outings, holidays, etc. New members over 50 are always welcome male and female.

Matsubayashi Shorin Ryu International Karate

Our club is now getting ready for the December grading which takes place on Monday 9th December next at 7pm. All students are working very hard in preparation and family and friends are invited to come along and support them on the night. The following week we will be presenting our student of the year award and we will also be having our Dojo Japanese competition so we have a lot to look forward to. Remember training times are Monday 7-8pm in the GAA complex and new members are always welcome. Vigil

The next first Friday/Saturday all night reparation and adoration vigil to the Sacred and Immaculate Hearts of Jesus and Mary is scheduled for Friday 6th December. This is the first vigil of the church year taking place during the first week of advent. This is a wonderful opportunity to gain special graces and to pray and to prepare spiritually for the holy season of Christmas. The venue is in the Chapel of Our Lady’s Manor, Edgeworthstown, commencing at 10pm. There is also a vigil in St. Anne’s (former Mercy Convent), Convent Lane, Mohill on the same night, commencing at earlier time of 8pm. All are welcome. Panto Time

IT’S PANTO TIME AGAIN… oh no its isn’t, oh yes it is!! Students from Ballymahon Vocational School are getting ready to take on the Dickens classic, ‘Scrooge; A Christmas Carol’. Why not join Scrooge, Bob Cratchit, the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future in a show that will provide much interaction with the audience? So get ready to embark on a pantomime experience unlike any other! Ballymahon Vocational School has a strong and rich history in pantomime and drama, dating over the years and thus patrons can be assured of a show full of drama, comedy and dance with a few surprises each night!! The show will hit the stage in the Vocational School on December 4th, 5th and 6th. Doors open at 7.30pm and show starts at 8pm. Adults €10. Children/Students/OAP €5. Prizes galore each night.
