The visitors were short a number of first choice players and were reduced to14 players in the second half which affected them greatly. It was a day that everything went right for Arva, especially the way their last goal was scored. The Mountnugent goalkeeper was coming out the field to clear the ball but miss kicked it. The ball hit Arva player Raymond Daly on the side of the head leaving him stunned as the ball rolled back into the Mountnugent net. The scores were even enough until Jonathan McCabe hit the first Arva goal in the 27th minute and they led at half time by 5 points 1-8 to 0-6. The second half was barely a minute old when in a great passing move down the field Ryan Magarahan collected the ball, passed to the inrushing Peter Morris who found Mc Cabe on the edge of the square and he made no mistake. Mountnugent fought back with 3 points in as many minutes but that was as good as it got for them – a further point in the 21st minute closed their scoring. Arva had a point from Ryan Magarahan before Raymond Daly and Peter Morris found the net in the 8th and 10th minutes. We had stalemate for the next 10 minutes before Alan Barry pointed in the 20th minute. Jonathan Mc Cabe was fouled in the small square and scored the resultant penalty himself in the 22nd minute before Daly’s header while Peter Morris had the last score from a free in the 27th minute. Arva team: - Sean Donnelly, Stephen Ellis, Darren Gray, Sean Mc Manus, Paul Bouchier, Ciaran Brady (0-1), , Cormac Mc Cabe, Brian Fitzpatrick (0-1), Fergal Mc Glade, Alan Barry (0-1), Raymond Daly (2-0), Ryan Magarahan (0-1), Peter Morris (1-5), Jonathan Mc Cabe (3-3), James Morris.
