Summer School looking for volunteers

The Joe Mooney Summer Scoil committee is looking for volunteers to help with the running of the summer Scoil. The summer school will take place from the 19th to the 25th of July. If you are available to help please contact 0868826929 / (087) 133 1241.

Handling course

A Health & safety Manual handling Course will be held at Leitrim Development Company, Church St. on Wednesday, July 2nd from 9.30am to 1pm. Course fee is €40. Contact Kathleen on 071-96 41770 or email info@ldco.ie to book your place.

Laura takes Gold

Warmest congratulations go to Laura Rogers, Killdorragh, Carrick-on-Shannon, for winning two gold medals at the Special Olympics Ireland National Games in Limerick. Laura is a member of South Leitrim Special Olympics Club and was one of eleven athletes selected to represent Connaught at the Equestrian Games. In all, forty five athletes participated in this field. Laura won gold at Equestrian and Trail Ride classes. The equestrian activities of South Leitrim Special Olympics Club take place at Moorlands Equestrian Centre, Drumshanbo, Co. Leitrim. Laura was a founder member of the Club when it was set up in 2005. This is an inclusive, sociable club, and its equestrian activities are a great success thanks to the commitment of Management, Coaches, Staff, Volunteers and Parents at Moorlands.

The Base Youth Cafe

The Thursday session for fourth and fifth class is now finished until September. Sixth class is now doing photography, film project. Their production will be exhibited in the town during the Joe Mooney summer school. This takes place on Wednesdays from 4.30pm to 6pm. New participants welcome. The drop in for post primary young people on Fridays is now open from 2pm to 6pm. The summer camp will take place from 14th until 17th July, with lots of fun, activities and day trips. It is open to all young people from 4th, 5th and 6th classes. Registration evening will take place in the base youth café on 25th June at 6pm. Summer camp

The annual Bo-Peep Kidz Summer Camp commences on June 30th for four weeks ending on July 25th.Camp will operate daily 9am-6pm.Contact 9641987.

Concert

The Roscommon Solstice Choir with guests Charlie McGettigan and Sandy Kelly will perform at Sligo Cathedral on this Friday 20th June at 8pm. Proceeds in aid of MS Therapy Centre Sligo and North West Simon Community.

Swimming lessons

Irish Water Safety swimming lessons and Life Saving will take place from Monday, 30th June to Saturday, 5th July and also from Monday, 14th July to Saturday, 19th July inclusive at the outdoor pool in Drumshanbo. Registration will take place on Saturday, 14th June from 2 - 4 pm in the hall of St Patrick’s Primary School. 5k run/walk

A 5k Run/Walk in Roosky Village on Wednesday, 2nd July at 8pm.  Registration of €10 per person or €20 for family at Community Centre, Roosky on Monday, 30 June from 7 - 9pm and again at 6.30pm on Wednesday, 2 July prior to walk. Proceeds in aid of Roosky Church Restoration Fund.

Meeting

Senior Citizens Group meet today, (Wednesday) at 2pm in Áras Phádraig. All welcome.
