For a lovely afternoon of re-living the past Granard is the place to be on December 8th.
On Monday evening last November 25th, we were all shocked and stunned as the news of the tragic death of Gerard Mulligan of Breaghy, Edgeworthstown became known. Gerry was beloved husband of Mary (nee Doyle) and was the oldest of a family of ten children of Mary and the late Jimmy Mulligan of Breaghy. Gerry was a farmer and he just loved the land and his animals and he had a great knowledge of cattle and this he was willing to share with any friend or neighbour who might need advise or a helping hand. Gerry took great pride in his work and this was very evident on his farm and indeed on any farm he worked on with his digger or tractor. It was always a joy to meet Gerry and Mary and have a chat with them and in any little counter debate just when one would think you had got the upper hand Gerry would always come up with the last word.Gerry will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him but the biggest loss of all is with his loving wife Mary, his mother Mary, brothers Pat, Seamus, Hugh, Tom, Enda and Dermot, his sisters Evelyn, Mairead and Siobhan, his Aunt Sr. Pauline, his parents in law Tommy and Maura Doyle and the extended Doyle family, his nephews and nieces and many friends to who we extend our heartfelt sympathy at this sad time. Gerry was laid to rest in Clonbroney cemetery following Mass at noon on Friday last. May he rest in peace.
Sincere and heartfelt sympathy is extended to the O’Hara family, Aughamore, Granard on the very sad death of their mother, Bridie, which occurred on Sunday last November 24th following an accident in Edgeworthstown. Also to Rose and Jimmy Reilly, Ballymorris and to the extended McKeon family, Clenrath, Aughnacliffe on the very sudden death of Hugh which occurred during the week. May they rest in peace.
