The organisers of the recent charity walk in aid of St Christopher’s would like to thank everyone who sponsored the walk or participated in the event. The final amount raised was €3,572. It was a great day out. Thank you.
The Annual Christmas draw takes place on Thursday 19th December 2013 in Kearney’s Bar, Curraghmore. 1st prize is a Bumper Christmas Hamper, 2nd prize is €100 and 3rd prize is €50. There will be bottles of brandy, whiskey, wine and many more items raffled on the night also. Tickets on sale from any club member or Kearney’s Bar at €5 for a book of 3 tickets. A free farmers draw will also take place on the night for a voucher for Connacht Gold in appreciation for land use for hunting.
Students from Ballymahon Vocational School are ready to take on the Dickens classic “Scrooge; A Christmas Carol”. The show will hit the stage in the Vocational School this Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Doors open at 7.30pm and the show starts at 8.00pm. Adults €10. Children/Students/OAPs €5. Chess & Draughts
Chess & Draughts for AMG Community Games will be offered for the next 2 weeks to get some practice in before Christmas break. 5-6:30pm in the Heritage Centre on Fri Dec 6 & Fri Dec 13.All children interested in doing these 2 activities please attend. Our Community Games Youth Activities on Friday evenings will start up in the New Year for table tennis, chess, draughts, etc.
Congratulations to Brigette Lynch Scott, Leslie Finnan and all involved with AMG Community Games on their National win for their Healthy Events project. Over 20 people from Co. Longford travelled to the National Community Games Achievement Awards Night in Derry where AMG had the unique honour to receive the very 1st Healthy Events trophy for this brand new competition. Also recognised were the County winners for Longford: Killoe- Involvement Award, Turlough Farrelly, (Killoe) Adult Recognition and Michaela Cox, (Killashee) Youth Volunteer. Community Games would not be able to provide the wide variety of opportunities for children without all the dedication of its volunteers so a genuine THANK YOU to everyone who gives so generously of their time to Community Games in Co. Longford.
St Joseph’s Young Priests Society
We would like to thank all those who supported the cake sale in which €750 was collected for the Society. The purpose of the society is to promote vocations to the priesthood by prayer and financial support. Thanks to generous donations made during the year, the Society was able to assist 107 Irish students and 715 students overseas.
