Death of Christy Morris
It was with great sadness and regret that we learned on Thursday, 21st November of the passing of Christy Morris, Drumcarey Corlismore, which occurred suddenly at his residence. A highly respected member of the community Christy was a popular member of the farming sector where he carried out his work with excellence and great taste. He had a great interest in sport and especially gaelic football. He will be sadly missed by his neighbours and friends and especially by his loving wife Margaret, son Bernard, daughters Aileen, Claire, Imelda, Sinead, Joan, Grainne, Paula and Meave, sisters Sheila, Gladys and Madge, daughter in law, sons in law, grandchildren , sister in law nephews , nieces and relatives to whom we extend our deepest sympathy. His remains were removed from his residence on Saturday evening to the Church of the Sacred Heart Arva and following funeral mass on Sunday at 12 noon , burial took place in Coronea cemetery. May he rest in peace.
Fishing results Results of Jimmy Sloane Memorial open boat fishing competition held on Sunday, 24th November on Aughanoran Lake. 1st Michael Dalton, Athlone; 2nd John Boyle, North Longford; 3rd Kieran Lee, Arva; 4th Kerrie Lee, Dring; 5th Joe Murtagh, Aughnacliffe. 15 boats participated. Next competition on Friday, 27th December, Derries Lake.
Loch Gowna Active Age annual Christmas party on Sunday next December 8th in the Pikers Lodge Hotel at 4pm. If anyone in the parish did not get their invitation or anyone who would wish to attend, please come along you will be very welcome. A good night of music song and craic and Santa will visit.

Colmcille Christmas market will take place on Sunday December 8th in Colmcille Community Centre at 11am. Market will include home baked goods, decorated Christmas cakes, Christmas wreaths, crafts and much more. Demonstrations will be held on cake decorating and Christmas floral arrangements. Proceeds to palliative care and Colmcille ladies GFC.
