Comedy comes to Gortletteragh

The Acorn Players are staging their 3 Act Comedy “The Two Loves Of Gabriel Foley” on Friday 11th April 2014 at 8.30pm in Cornageeha Community Hall. This hilarious play, where all is fair in love and war, has already got great reviews. This play is a play not to be missed.

Ladies GAA

Clonguish Ladies are asking you to rid yourselves of unwanted clutter and raise money for the club without having to dip into your pockets. The club is running clothes collection on a continuous basis. If you are clearing out unwanted clothes, the ladies senior club has a drop point every week at senior training, which runs on a Monday/Tuesday and a Friday night. If you have any questions you can call Grainne on 085 7849839 or Kathleen on 086 3918534.

Eddie Stone

The well known lay healer will conduct a healing service in St Mary’s Church, Newtownforbes on Saturday next, 12th April at 2pm. All are welcome.

Thursday Club

It meets every Thursday in the Parish Hall, 2 – 4pm. Mass will be celebrated next Thursday at 2.30pm.

Tidy Towns  

Niall and Catherine Smith have very generously sponsored an Easter Hamper for the Tidy Towns and we would ask you to support us by buying a line for €2. The Committee is busy organising a number of projects for 2014 and we would welcome new members to join us coming up to our busiest time of year.  

New Altar Servers

Fr. McGovern needs to recruit and train new Altar Servers. Any boy or girl in 4th or 5th Class is eligible to serve.

Sympathy

We wish to extend our deepest sympathy to the Willing and Mahon families on the death of Mary Willing, Cornwall, England, (formerly Mary Mahon, Ballagh Bridge) who died suddenly last week. May she rest in peace. We extend our deepest sympathy to the Hampton and Geelan family on the death of Maureen Hampton, (nee Geelan) formerly of Derryharrow and Cloontubrid. May she rest in peace.

ICA

We held our AGM on Tuesday last and thank you to all for attending. Thank you to the officers who have left office and congrats to those who take over the position’s. Kathleen Kelly information officer with the federation attended our meeting and was very helpful with the election of officers. Pitch and putt competition will be held on Saturday April 26th in Ballinalee at 10am. Federation AGM will be held in Kenagh on Monday April 28th. Congrats to Mary Doyle and Lilly Hannify on receiving their certificates for their long term service with ICA. Well done ladies. We have three new members so far and there is plenty of room for more, so if you think you can bring something to ICA or if we can help you in some way please come along to our next meeting on May 6th at 8.30pm in the parish hall, we can have a chat and a cuppa and maybe it might suit you. We have a busy year ahead but everyone is so enthusiastic we will have no problem getting through it. We look forward to seeing some more new faces at our next meeting.

Ploughing Championship

County Longford Ploughing Championship will be held on Sunday 13th April at Cranleybeg, Edgeworthstown. Exhibition of quality livestock, Machinery show, trade fair, dog show, activities for children, live music on the day and much more for everyone to enjoy.
