The Ardagh Moydow Glen Community Games Model Making Competition took place on Saturday afternoon last in The Ardagh Heritage and Creativity Centre. There was lots of talent on display from all of the entrants and the judging of the models was not an enviable task and we would like to extend our thanks to Ann and Annette for taking it on. Congratulations to the winners U12 Boys: 1st Paul Smyth, 2nd Daniel Hayden, 3rd Eoin Fallon. U12 Girls: 1st Bronagh O’ Meara, 2nd Norah May Pearman Howard, 3rd Alison Keegan. U10 Girls: 1st Saoirse McLoughlin, 2nd Olivia Nash, 3rd Dimity Bladen. The first place winners will now progress to represent Ardagh Moydow Glen at the county competition on Sat 14th of June. Our Cross Country athletics participated in the County Competition which was held in Ballymahon GAA Ground on Friday last. They met with some very stiff competition on the track but pulled out all the stops and were well rewarded on the day. U12 Girls raced first and Melissa O’ Kane, Sarah McPhillips and Katie Lynch placed 3rd, 4th and 5th respectively. U12 Boys saw Brendan Finnan, Cathal Farrell and Jack Gallagher compete. Brendan Finnan had a fantastic race and reached the finish line to secure gold, Jack Gallagher was hot on his heels and reached the line in 3rd place. Cathal Farrell was just piped at the line for a qualifying place. In the U13 Boys, Cian Mc Phillips put in a fantastic run and comfortably reached the line to claim the gold medal. Melissa, Sarah, Katie, Brendan, Jack and Cian now qualify to represent County Longford at the National Finals in Athlone IT in August, we wish them all the very best of luck. The Tag Rugby training continues in the GAA pitch on Thursday evenings at 6.30. The final’s will be played in the Rugby Club on 26th April. There are still a few places left for any U11 or U14’s interested in participating so if you have an interest then please call down.
