Killydoon Area Dev Ass. wish to say a sincere thank you to all who participated in one of the largest clean ups the County has ever seen on Saturday last. Along with our neighbours in Lacken we can take pride to say the main N55 from the County Bridge to Ballinagh is now litter free. It is also appropriate to thank all the other householders who came out on all the other local roads throughout the parish which is an indication of a true community spirit. Well done to all.
World Irish Dancing Championships
Good luck to Cormac McKeogh, Drumhowra, who has qualified for the World Irish Dancing competitions in the U-11 Boys section and will compete in London on Sunday 13th April. Cormac is the current U-11 Ulster Boys champion and we wish him every success in London.
The late Felix Halton, Drumgore, Loughduff was well known locally for his appreciation of nature and the everyday life of rural Ireland and was highly regarded as a gifted poet and storyteller. In fact he would have had much in common with Patrick Kavanagh he was so aware of the world around him. His family are organizing a publication of a collection of his poems but unfortunately many of his compositions were never put to paper. It is hoped that anyone who may have any of his works or remember verses might get in touch so that these can be included in the collection. Please contact Bridie Halton 086.8252155.
Church Donations Refund
The local Church Finance Committee wish to point out that under section 848A Consolidation Act a charity (Church) can claim tax refund on donations it receives. In order to reduce the current parish debt they are encouraging PAYE parishioners who have donated money to fill in the appropriate claim forms so this can be dealt with. Forms were handed out at weekend Masses and can be returned completed next weekend. All information is confidential and Revenue will not share details with the parish.
