Easter Bunny Walk
The Granard Branch of St Christopher’s is holding their annual Easter Bunny walk on Sunday, 13 April 2014. We will be leaving the Granard Health Centre at 3.00pm and walking to Abbeylara where there will be eggs galore and music.

The 60th Longford/Dublin Association Annual Gala Dinner will take place in the Red Cow Moran’s Hotel on Saturday, 12 April commencing at 8pm. Award Recipients are Drumlish native Liam Caldwell and Tom Gilligan a native of Ballywillan and Abbeylara. Music is by Country Star Mick Flavin and his band. Longford Race Day
At the recent launch of Longford GAA Race Day sponsored this year by Flynn & Lynch, Mr. Martin Skelly encouraged all Longford people to come on board again and support. This is the 12th Race Day and is due to take place on the 30 April 2014. He reminded everyone present of the importance of this event both as a great social event as well as outlining the financial importance it is to Longford GAA. Open to Active Retirement Clubs – Pickleball is a fun court sport played on a badminton-sized court. It is easy for beginners to learn, but can develop into a fast paced, competitive game for experienced players. In addition to being fun, the game has developed a reputation for its friendly and social nature. Pickelball can be played as singles or doubles. No special apparel is needed just something comfortable. The game can be played by all ages and is taking place in the Longford Sports Centre on Wednesday, 30 April. There are three time slots available for groups to book; from 10.00am to 11.00am, 11.00am to 12 noon and 12 noon to 1.00pm. There will be a brief introduction to the game followed by the opportunity for people to play the game. Friendly Phone Call Service
Friendly Phone Call Service calling older people in the Granard Area: The Rural Resource Worker made a presentation to the nurses in the new Primary Care Centre, located in Flancare Business Park, Longford. The Rural Resource Worker will be promoting the Friendly Phone Call Service to older people in the Granard Area. Any local groups in the Granard area are welcome to request a presentation on the service. Please contact Mary Mulvey at 043-3345555. The aim of this free confidential service is to provide information on local activities and services available to older people as well as an opportunity for a friendly chat. If you are feeling lonely or isolated and you would like someone to talk to, this is the service for you. The Friendly Call Service can be reached at 043-3349678 from Monday–Thursday from 10:00am – 4:00pm Easter is near, so a reminder to all children that their help is needed to decorate a Resurrection Garden in St. Mary’s Church, Carragh. Flowers or small decorative objects are most welcome.
