Played in good conditions on a sunny afternoon it was a highly entertaining and sporting game which unfortunately ended with the wrong result for Arva. Brian Ellis received a bad injury and had to be replaced and we wish him a speedy recovery. Drung opened the scoring in the 1st minute with a point but Arva replied with a brace through Conal Sheridan and Ryan Magarahan. The lead switched again as Drung hit 2 further points but the Arva supporters were on their feet in the 11th minute when Brian Ellis sent an absolute scorcher into the corner of the net from 25 meters. The visitors recaptured the lead when they had a goal and a point and Ryan Magarahan pointed for Arva (22 mins). Drung had a great spell and but for great work by Richard Keith in the Arva goals they would have had another goal (24 mins). The goal did come however in the 27th minute but Arva had the last score of the half when Gavin Doyle pointed (32 mins) to leave the half time score Drung 2-4 Arva 1-4. A goal and a point after the restart put the visitors 7 points ahead but Arva hit back with points from Alan Barry (10 / 11 mins), Brian Ellis (18 mins), Conal Sheridan (21 mins). Drung pointed in the 22nd / 24th minutes but Arva were back with a point from Magarahan (26 mins) and Gavin Doyle hit the net in the 29th minute to leave a point between the sides. Try as they would Arva could not get the equaliser and the visitors pointed in the 30th minute to leave them winners by 2 points. U 21 Championship: The Cavan U 21 team defeated Monaghan on Wednesday night last Semi-Final of the Ulster Championship. The final score was Cavan 1-7 Monaghan 0-4 with underfoot conditions very poor due to the incessant rain. Jim was an active member of the Cavan Society of Philadelphia and served for some time as President of the Society. He was predeceased by his parents John and Rose Rogan (nee Prior), his son Paul, his sister Kathleen Duffy – Ballyduffy, Moyne. Jim is survived by his wife Mary (nee Philson), his sons John, Jim, and daughter Mary, his grandchildren, nieces and nephews in the United States and Ireland.
