The next meeting of Castlepollard Gardening Club takes place on Friday evening, October 4th, at 8pm in the Parish Community Centre, Church Street, Castlepollard. Mary Stefanazzi will give a presentation on Creativity and the garden. All are welcome.
The local community were saddened to learn of the death, which took place peacefully on Tuesday, September 10th, at the Midland Regional Hospital, Mullingar, of Mr. Kevin (Mickey) Nea, New Glenview, Castlepollard. The remains reposed at his residence from Thursday, September 12th, until removal to St. Michael’s Church, Castlepollard, on Friday morning, September 13th. Requiem Mass took place at 11am on Friday, September 13th, with internment afterwards in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Castlepollard. The attendance at the removal, Mass and funeral was very large and widely representative of the esteem in which the deceased was held. Kevin, or Mickey as he was popularly known, was a member of an old respected family. He will be sadly missed not alone by his immediate family, but by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. The deceased is survived by his Mary, sons Keith, Kieran and Paul, daughters Tracy, Elaine and Amanda, sister Moll, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, nephew, nieces, other relatives and friends to whom deepest sympathy is extended.
The next meeting of the Share Art Group will take place in Castlepollard Library on Thursday, October 3rd, from 6.45pm and 7.45pm. Castlepollard Book Club will meet in Castlepollard Library on Tuesday, October 8th, between 6.45pm and 7.45pm. The book up for discussion is Pigeon English by Stephen Kelman.
