The new Carrickedmond folk group will perform at 10am mass on Sunday next the 29th September in Carrickedmond church. The group have now been in practice for the past two months and are looking forward to their first folk mass performance. The group will continue to perform on the on the last Sunday of each month at 10am mass in Carrickedmond and rehearsals will continue following Sundays performance on Wednesday nights from 8:30pm to 9:30pm.New members are always welcome. If you can play a musical instrument or sing please come along.
The autumn stations in the parish continue for the following areas. Wednesday 2nd Oct in the home of Joe Lennon for the Aghanvally area. Friday the 11th Oct in the home of Jimmy Lennon at 8pm for the Currareehan area. Thursday 17th Oct in the home of Jim Mulvey for the Ballintubber area. Friday the 8th Nov in the home of Tom and Bridie Corrigan for the Abbeyderg area.

Sunday next is D-day for the footballers of the parish as they take on Ardagh in the final of the Intermediate championship in Pearse Park Longford. The team have prepared well for this final and even though there are some injuries reported we are hopeful that the Hennessy cup will make its way back to the parish on Sunday evening. All supporters from the area are encouraged to make their way to the final on Sunday next and cheer on the team in what should be a very exiting final.
Ballymahon and district credit union is now accepting entries for its third level scholarship. Pupils attending either Ballymahon Vocational school or Ballymahon Secondary school and who are members of the Ballymahon and District credit union can apply. Applicants must be commencing a FAS apprenticeship or a full time certificate diploma or degree course at any university, IT or approved level college. The scholarship will be paid at a rate of €1000 per annum for a maximum of three years. Entry forms are available from the credit union office in Ballymahon. Closing date for receipt of entries is the 28th September 2013.
The Harvest Thanksgiving Services in the Ardagh Group of Church of Ireland parishes as follows: Sunday next the 29th September at 3pm in Tashinney church. Sunday October 13th at 3pm in Kenagh church. Everyone is welcome and tea will be served following the service.
The Cathedral will be open to visitors for viewing from 1:30pm to 4:30pm on Sunday next the 29th September. Everyone is invited to visit the Cathedral to view building progress to date.
The new badminton season has now started with sessions taking place in Carrickedmond parish hall on Wednesday nights. New members very welcome so do come along and bring your friend. Registration for adults is Wednesday 25th September at 9pm and registration for juniors is Friday 27th September at 8pm. Registration fees for the season is as follows. €20 per child, €50 per family (more than 2 children) and €50 per adult.
