Ballymahon’s Bog Lane Theatre is holding Auditions for three One-act plays on Thursday 26th September at 9.00p.m. If you are interested in going on stage please go along to the Theatre. Everyone welcome.

A free Gospel Choir Workshop, facilitated by Brendan Keeley, Musical Director of the Tullamore Gospel Choir, will be held on 29th September in the Longford Arms from 3p.m. to 5p.m. Everyone is welcome and refreshments will be served.

To Fergal Kelly, Ballymahon who was Linesman at the All-Ireland Minor Football Final in Croke Park on Sunday and to Sinead O’Neill, Darogue who took part in the Underage football game during the Interval. Sinead is the Captain of the Ballymahon/Forgney Gaels U-12 team who won the County Final of the U.12 Plate competition last week.
Day Care Centre
We hope all the members of Ballymahon Day Care Centre enjoyed their trip to Westport last week. Management at the Centre would like to thank the collectors and all those who contributed so generously at their Church Gate collection over the weekend. Your continued support is very much appreciated.
Congratulations to Pat Kilduff, Toome who recently retired from Bord na Mona after a long number of years. Pat carries the Diocesan flag on the Annual Pilgrimages to Lourdes and is always a popular member of the group who have been travelling for many years now. We wish him good health and happiness in the years ahead.
Looking well on R.T.E.1 Television last week was Helena Kenny, daughter of Mary and the late Owen, Corina on the programme “The Science Squad”. The documentary was about Space Studies at the European Space Agency which research technology in Space. Helena is a Researcher in D.C.U. in the Centre of Preventative Medicine and was interviewed about her research on how to counteract problems Astronauts have in Space. Well done Helena.

The Innyside Singers will resume after their Summer break on this Thursday night, 26th September. Rehearsals will be held in Skellys (please note change of venue) and will be from 8.00p.m. sharp to 9.30p.m. each week. Light refreshments will be available this Thursday night. Newcomers ,male and female, are always welcome to join the group who sing for fun.
We wish to extend our deepest sympathy to Mrs Nell Foley, Tramore, Co Waterford and to her daughters Deirdre, Emer and Cliona, sons Ronan and Connell and to all her family on the death of Sept 8th last of Nell’s husband Conor, former County Engineer for Longford back in the ‘eighties. Nell herself is a former Teacher at the National School here in Ballymahon also back in the ‘80’s. May his Soul rest in peace.

A just recognition for Rose who spends much of her spare time visiting the sick and hospitalised around Kenagh, she is a very kind and considerate lady. Ballymahon/Forgney Ladies football club are holding a fund-raising Family Fun run/walk on Saturday 26th October. Children (12 and up) €5 and adults €10. Your support for the young ladies will be very much appreciated.
