LANDMARK DISAPPEARS: Another link with the past was severed last week when the old Legaginny Hall in Lacken was demolished. In the 40’s & 50’s long before the ballrooms became popular, halls like Legaginny, Killadoon, Middletown and Corduff provided whatever entertainment there was for the youth of the day. Some of the older folk can recall many happy nights spent at dances and concerts with local musicians and singers gathering in to play and sing. This was the era before motor cars became popular and lads and lassies got there mostly on bicycles or even walked. The dances and concerts were mostly on Sunday nights and were over early around 11.30 so all would be able to be up bright and early the next day.
