Honk- A Musical Comedy
The Cnoc Mhuire Transition Year class are currently putting the finishing touches to HONK, a musical comedy that is based on the story of the Ugly Duckling. It is a heart-warming tale that will be enjoyed by both young and old. The musical takes place in the school sports hall on 17th, 18th and 19th December at 7.30p.m. Tickets can be purchased from the school office on 043 6686231 or through the HONKline on 085 8409506. Annual Senior Citizens Party: Our favourite event of the year will be held on Sunday December 1st. Five course meal, music and craic galore. Don’t miss out. Transport will be provides if required. Table Quiz: Granard Area Action Group will hold their annual table quiz in Fay’s Bar, Granard on Friday 22nd November commencing at 9.00p.m sharp. The group sponsors the local Community Employment Project taking place in the areas of Abbeylara, Bunlahy, Granard and Mullinalaghta. As in previous years the local community are expected to fundraise a percentage of the cost of the project. This is the group’s only fundraiser for the year. The event as always promises to be a fun night and your support is earnestly requested. Tables of 4 are €40. Valuable spot prizes. Refreshments will be served.

Library: Due to renovations Granard Branch Library has been relocated to Rath Mhuire Resource Centre at Barrack St., Granard. It will operate each Friday from 10.00a.m to 5.00p.m. For further information call 087 6151028 on any Friday.
St. Vincent de Paul Shop: ‘’New 2 U’’ shop at Market St. Granard is open every Friday from 10.00a.m to 5.00pm and on Saturdays from 11.00a.m – 5.00p.m. It will also open on the first Tuesday of each month from 10.00am – 5.00pm. Please note change of business hours for winter months.
Fundraising Hunt and Auction Event
The Fundraising Hunt and Auction will go ahead on Saturday next 23rd November starting from St. Columba’s Church at 12.00p.m. Thanks to Longford Harriers who have agreed to participate again this year and to our local landowners who have very kindly given permission to access their lands. The ‘Hunt’’ will be followed by refreshments in the Community Centre at approximately 3.30p.m and a fundraising auction will follow.
Items donated for the auction so far include solid fuel, vouchers for animal feed, veterinary service, equine products, meals, tyres, hay, silage, straw, household articles etc. It is very important that the community attend and support this event so that our community walkway can be completed and lighting provided for use during the dark winter evenings. Your support would be very much appreciated for this event.
St. Columba’s G.F.C held their weekly lotto draw the Angler’s Rest on Wednesday 13th November Winning numbers were 2, 17, 26, 30 with the jackpot of €3,850 remaining intact. As part of their fundraising activities the local ladies football club are holding a weekly draw based on the bonus ball in the main draw of the national lottery. Sheets are on sale in local shops or are available from any club member. Match the bonus ball in Saturday’s night main draw and you will earn yourself €20. Lines are just €2.
