It’s panto time again... oh no it isn’t., oh yes it is!! Students from Ballymahon Vocational School are getting ready to take on the Dicken’s classic, ‘Scrooge; A Christmas Carol;. Why not join Scrooge, Bob Cratchit, the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future in a show that will provide much interaction with the audience? So get ready to embark on a pantomime experience unlike any other! Ballymahon Vocational School has a strong and rich history in pantomime and drama, dating over the years and thus patrons can be assured of a show full of drama, comedy and dance with a few surprises each night!! The show will hit the stage in the Vocational School on December 4th, 5th and 6th. Doors open at 7:30p.m and show starts at 8p.m. Adults 10 euro. Children/Students/OAP 5 euro. Christmas Tree

The annual switch on ceremony for Kenagh Village Christmas tree will take place on Sunday evening December 8th at 7:00p.m. Arrangements are already going ahead for providing a tree suitable for the occasion with refreshments and entertainments afterwards. More later.


Congratulations to Patricia Stevans, Cartronbrack, Kenagh who celebrated her twenty-first birthday with a party in O’Boyles Lounge last Saturday night.

Church collection

The Simon Community wish to thank all who supported their Church gate collection taken up last weekend. The amount collected was 243 euro and the Irish Pilgrimage trust was 170 euro.

G.A.A Dinner

Kenagh G.A.A club will be holding their annual dinner and social in The Rustic Inn, Abbeyshrule, on Saturday, December 28th. This will be a special occasion as it will involve the fiftieth anniversary of Kenagh under twenty-one team winning their first ever championship title. The club executive hope to see as many of that team as possible on that night.


K.D.D.A are hosting an American Tea Party on Saturday 23rd November from 8 to 10p.m in The Community Centre in aid of funds for our community playground. Hosting a table involves inviting 10 people to join you for tea for 100 euro overall. Hosts are advised tea, coffee, milk, sugar will be supplied on the night as well as covered table. You need to bring your own refreshments. As not to put people under pressure, please keep it simple – savouries, sandwiches and cakes of all varieties. Entertainment is kindly being provided and a raffle with spot prizes. Wetlands Heritage Ireland will be hosting a Lecture in Cooney’s Hotel, Ballymahon on this Thursday night, November 21st at 8pm. The title of the lecture will be the “Corlea Archeology Project” and will be delivered by Mr. Donal Mac AnBheatha, Chief Planning Officer with Longford Council. All are welcome to attend.
