PLAYGROUND & COMMUNITY PARK CLOSEd: The RCD have contractors in who started work on the community Park and they are asking all parents to keep their children out of the community field and Play ground until work is completed. This is a Health & Safety issue and there will be large machines working so for the safety of all please make sure your children are aware of the dangers and respect that they have to stay out of the community field and Playground until all is finished.
Lotto: There was no winner of the Rathowen lotto jackpot which stands at €9,500. Draw was on Monday, April 29. There was no Jackpot winner and the €30 winners were Angela Sheerin, Becky McCormack and Kay Keegan. Tickets can be brought in Rathowen Post Office, Connaughton’s Pub, along with several people selling. If you would like to sell a book please contact Peter or Liz on 6676189. It’s worth buying a ticket and remember if you’re not in you can’t win!
COMMUNITY TEXT ALERTs: The newly formed Community Alert committee have been hard at work setting up the text alert programme, so if you would like to join and receive Garda Text Alerts, please collect a application form from Rathowen Post Office and drop it back to Angela or Lorraine in the Post Office along with €20 (cover cost of insurance, affiliation to Muire na Tire and texts) for the year. Even though the Text Alerts are up and running now for all who have sent in their form and money you can still join at anytime. There have been no takers of the Text Alert program in Ballygarron, Ballydorey, Derrydoon, Winetown, Ballygarvey or Killenaugh, Rockfield, Crumlin, Corry, Louglinstown areas. The Garda recommend that there is at least one to two text alert recipients in every town land. If you live in any of these areas, and wish to join, just call to the Post Office for a form. This is a very effective system, just last week thanks to text alerts, the Garda were altered to a stolen car parked in the village. Any queries please contact a committee member Avril Whitney, Willie Rabbitte, Martina Reilly, Lisa Fulham & Lorraine Tormey.
