Senior Citizens Mass: The Annual Mass for senior citizens will be concelebrated in St Mary’s Church Legan this Friday 22nd February at 5.00pm with Anointing of those who are sick or convalescing. All participants are invited to a meal in the Rustic Inn Abbeyshrule afterwards.
Tidy Town Meeting: Legan Tidy Town committee will hold a meeting tonight Wednesday February 20th in Milly’s Cottage at 8.30pm. All welcome.
Inny Anglers: Last week’s Inny Anglers Lotto draw took place in Casey’s Carrickboy for a jackpot of €1,600. Numbers drawn were 6, 10, 11 and 19. There was no jackpot winner. Special draw winners were Peggy Marlowe and Paddy Donnelly each €40. This week’s draw takes place in Mitchell’s.
Midland Samaritans: The Samaritans Annual Church Gate collection will take place this weekend, 23/24th February in Ballycloghan on Saturday and in Legan on Sunday. Please support generously and help maintain the service for those who need it. Choir practice: Children’s Choir practice will take place every Saturday at 5.00pm in Legan Church. New members always welcome.
Dinner Dance: The Annual Legan Sarsfield GAA Dinner Dance takes place on Friday 8th March in the Rustic Inn Abbeyshrule. Music on the night by Dave and the Blue Hats. Tickets are now on sale from any GAA member.
Drama: The local Dramatic Group are busy rehearsing for their forthcoming production of the John B Keane play “Sive” which will be staged on 9th 10th and 16th of March in the Aurora Hall, Legan. Volunteers are invited to help wardrobe, make-up and setting up of the hall. Anyone interested should contact 0872641344 or any of the members. A meeting of cast and behind the scene helpers will be held on Monday 25th February at 9.00pm
Walking Club: The Walking Group will meet in Legan this Saturday morning at 10.00am for their weekly walk. New members continue to join every week and with Spring upon us and the weather improving this is a lovely way to get an hour of your weekly exercise in. All abilities are always welcome.
ICA: National recruitment day for new ICA members takes place on Saturday 2nd March and Longford Federation will have promotional tables in Tesco and Super Valu Shopping Malls. Social Dancing classes continue in Community Centre Ennybegs on Tuesday nights from 8.00-10.00 at a cost of €5 including supper. All welcome. Craft classes continue every Tuesday morning from 10.00-1.00pm in St Mel’s Training Centre Battery Road, Longford. All welcome. The jackpot of €500 was won at Lotto draw held in Casey’s Carrickboy on Wednesday 13th February. Numbers drawn were 4, 11, 21 and 26. Congratulations to the lucky winner Sheila Corrigan, Gaigue, Ballinamuck. Next draw takes place on Wednesday 27th February and the jackpot starts again at €100.
GAA: Results of GAA Lotto draw held in Connaughton’s Rathowen on Monday 11th February. Numbers drawn were 2, 16, 22 and 28. There was no jackpot winner and no match three winners. Special draw winners were Tom Nulty and John and Maureen Boyce each €50. This week’s draw took place in Slowey’s and results will be published next week.
Community Games: Well done to all the children who took part in the u10 Handwriting Competition last week. The results will appear in next week’s notes. Indoor Games continue this Friday from 7-8pm in the Aurora Hall. Our Annual sponsored cycle/walk will take place on Good Friday. Sponsorship cards will be distributed to all children in the next couple of weeks. Basketball training continues for under 13’s and will commence for under 11’s this Friday after school from 3.20-4.30pm. Our Disco Dancers are making great moves under the watchful eye of their leader Hayley. The Community Games under 14 Table Quiz is due to take place on 12th March. Anyone interested in taking part please let Carmel Nulty know.
