Gaels Utd FC
The football season gets under way this weekend for 11 a side teams and next weekend for 7-a- side teams. The following are training times for all Gaels Utd teams for this season. Training for all teams has now started. U9 Girls – Fridays from 6.30 to 7.30. U11 and U13 Girls – Wednesdays from 5.30 to 6.30. U8 Boys – Thursdays from 5.30 to 6.30. U9 Boys – Wednesdays from 6.30 to 7.30. U10 Boys Tuesdays from 6.30 to 7.30. U11 Boys – Mondays from 6.30 to 7.30. U12 Boys - Thursday from 6.30 to 7.30. U14 boys – Tuesdays from 7.30 to 8.30. Players must bring €2 each to each training session for use of Astroturf Facility. There was a great turnout to our registration night in Drumlish Community Centre last Wednesday. Anyone yet to register can do so at training where forms will be available.
Fundraising draw The New Cemetery Committee are organising a Fundraising Draw which will take place in O’ Reilly’s Bar on Saturday 26th October. Prizes are 1. €1,000, 2. 32” TV, 3. €100 Voucher, 4. €100 Voucher, 5. €100 Voucher. Tickets cost €10 and are on sale now, tickets will also be sold door to door throughout the parish between now and 26th October. For further information please contact any committee member.

A Fundraising Night will be held in the Village Inn Drumlish on October 12th for Carol Galvin daughter of Willie & Philomena Forde, Cloonaugh Lr, and natives of Kilmahon. Carol diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis eight years ago is confined to a wheelchair and was recently diagnosed with a chronic form of Lyme Disease. Lyme Disease treatment is only available in Germany and will cost 40,000 euro. Carol lives in Athlone with her husband David and six year old daughter. Your help and support for this Fundraiser will be greatly appreciated.

Francis Duffy in St. Mary’s Pro Cathedral Athlone on Sunday 6th October at 3.00pm If you would like to attend this special celebration please give your name to Fr. Patsy or Fr. Cathedral Open Day
Those who are interested will have an opportunity to see progress on te restoration project at an Open Day to be held on Sunday September 29th. The Cathedral will open to visitors from 1.30pm to 4,30pm
The National Tidy Town’s results are being announced this Monday 9th September so best of luck to Drumlish and Ballinamuck. The judging period is almost over but that doesn’t mean we can take our eye off the ball. A lot of hard work has gone in to getting the Villages looking as well as it is now and we want to keep it that way! Litter is an on going problem so if anyone has any litter or dumping issues please phone the Longford Litter Hotline on 1850 434 450.

Sorohan: The death occurred on Saturday August 31st at the Midland Regional Hospital Mullingar of Charles Sorohan Cloonfore Lanesboro and formerly Fardromin, Ballinamuck. To his wife Julia, sons Charlie, Seamus, John , Kevin and Michael, brothers Mick,and John, sister Alice, grandchildren, daughters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and friends we extend our deepest and sincere sympathy. The Sorohan family wish to express their gratitude to Fr. Manning Gaels for the Guard of Honour at the funeral.
