GAA results The Carrickedmond GAA club held their fundraising draw in the Rustic-Inn Abbeyshrule on Friday night last. Folk Group Rehearsals for the Carrickedmond folk group are on Wednesday evenings and will continue on every Wednesday evening in Carrickedmond church from 8:30pm to 9:30pm. Anyone who can play a musical instrument or who is interested in singing is welcome to come along. The date for the first folk mass is Sunday the 29th September at 10am in Carrickedmond. The group will perform once a month there after on the last Sunday of each month at 10am mass in Carrickedmond. If you would like to join the group please come along to the practice on Wednesday evenings.

House Stations The Autumn stations will commence next week and will take place in the following homes. Thursday 12th September in the home of Sean and Val Delaney at 8pm for the Toome area. Friday 13th September in the home of Caroline Ferry at 8pm for the Currabawn area. Wednesday 2nd October in the home of Joe Lennon for the Aghanvally area. Friday the 11th October in the home of Jimmy Lennon at 8pm for the Currareehan area. Thursday 17th October in the home of Jim Mulvey for the Ballintubber area. Friday the 8th November in the home of Tom and Bridie Corrigan for the Abbeyderg area.

Newsletter All organisations and individuals who prepare items of interest for the annual Christmas newsletter please have it ready for Wednesday 30th October. Anyone with old photos of interest please contact Fr Tiernan.

Get well wishes At this time there are people from the parish in hospital and sick at home. We wish a speedy recovery to everyone who is sick at this time.

Clothes collection There will be a used clothes collection from the car park outside Colehill School on Friday 13th Sept at 9:30am. Everyone is welcome to leave bags of old used clothes, matched shoes, mobile phones and ink cartridges in bags beside the phone box. The collection will donate €3 per bag left out to the school.

Scholarship

Ballymahon and district credit union is now accepting entries for its third level scholarship. attend either Ballymahon Vocational school or Ballymahon Secondary school and who is a member of the Ballymahon and District credit union. Applicants must be commencing a FAS apprenticeship or a full time certificate diploma or degree course at any university, IT or approved level college. The scholarship will be paid at a rate of €1000 per annum for a maximum of three years. Entry forms are available from the credit union office in Ballymahon. Closing date for receipt of entries is the 28th September 2013.

Meeting The local pastoral group will meet in the parish house Carrickedmond on Monday 23rd September at 8pm. All members are asked to attend.

Collection The Irish Heart Foundation will take up their annual church gate collection at all masses in the parish next weekend. Please support.

Intermediate Final Carrickedmond will play Ardagh in this years Longford Intermediate final, which will take place in Pearse Park on Sunday the 29th September. We wish the team well with their preparation for the final.

Sympathy Is extended to the following on recent bereavements - Sean Mulvihill, Tashinney on the death of his brother, Martin Mulvihill, Mount Temple. The Cassidy family, Leixlip, formally Kilnacarrow, on the death of Dermot Cassidy. Sean McLoughlin, Turboy on the death of his brother, Joseph McLoughlin Tang.
