The death occurred recently of Mary Ann Reilly, Glan. Deceased who was of an advanced age died peacefully in the Sacred Heart Nursing Home, Clones. She was daughter of the late Hughie, (Granny) Reilly, Killycasson who was the Loughduff bell ringer which will bring back fond memories to older folk. Religiously every day at noon and 6 o’clock in the evening the bell tolled out over the Loughduff area from the graveyard where it was then situated. Like the train from Drumhowna Railway Station the Angelus bell, for many people was the clock, as it was heard all over the countryside calling the people to pray. Mary Ann was a friendly and outgoing lady and a familiar figure for many years as she cycled to Mass and to the local shops. The funeral Mass in Or Lady of Lourdes Church, Mullahoran on Sunday 1st September was celebrated by Canon Owen Devaney, P.P. and burial took place to local cemetery. May she rest in peace.
The Senior team gave an outstanding display on Sunday last when they blitzed near neighbours Gowna out of the championship in Breffni Park. Supporters were wondering if missed chances in the first half would come back to haunt them as they led by only 3 pts at the interval 2-2 to 0-5 but the final score of 4-13 to 0-7 tells its own story. This was a great all-round heart-warming performance and sets up an exciting encounter with Cavan Gaels in two weeks time. Well done to our minor team who had a good win over West Cavan Gaels on Tuesday last in Ballyconnell and good luck to them in the next round.
