DEATH OF MR.GERRY KEANE: There was widespread shock and disbelief in the Community at the sudden death of Gerry Keane. 
Gerry collapsed at died opposite his family home on Carrick Road while taking part in the Tony McGowan 10k Fun Run on Sunday of last week. Despite the efforts of medical personnel who were quickly on the scene ,Gerry passed away at the young age of 50.We extend our deepest sympathy to his wife Jessica, brother Joe, sisters Maureen and Margaret ,other relatives and a wide circle of friends. The Funeral took place on Thursday of last week to Drumshanbo Cemetery following requiem Mass in St.Patrick’s Church. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam.

THE BASE YOUTH CAFÉ: The Base Youth Café staff and members would like to extend our sympathies to the wife and family of the late Gerry Keane. May He rest in peace. Well done to all the young people from The Base and Drumkeerin Club who took part in the junior soccer tournament on Friday last in the Mayflower. Three teams from the Base won First, Second and Third. Well done Boys and girls. We want to thank Gareth for running the competition, thanks to Paul for his support, also to all the volunteers who were there with the young people and helped out on the night. Thanks to Carrick on Shannon Cineplex who sponsored the prizes. The senior soccer tournament will take place on March 8th. More details later. Wednesday; 5pm to 6pm Soccer coaching for 4th class in the Mayflower. Wednesday; 6pm to 7pm Soccer coaching for 5th and 6th class in the Mayflower. Thursday; 6pm to 7.30pm projects for post primary young people. Friday; 2pm to 5pm drop in for post primary young people. Friday; 6pm to 7pm sixth class group. ST.PATRICK’S DAY: At our recent St. Patrick’s Day meeting in Henry’s plans were made for the upcoming St. Patrick’s Day Parade Festival weekend. Kicking off with The Outlaws in the Lough Allen Hotel on Friday night the 15th. March. Tickets €15 this is a fundraiser for childhood days and STOP suicide awareness we are also hoping to have Hector joining  us over the weekend and we are planning a Hector /Red heads gathering  theme “for the year that is in it”. Floats are invited to come along on the day assembly on the Carrick road at 3 o clock, starting at Corryard Wood. All business/schools/groups in the town and surrounding areas are asked to enter a float. There is no entry fee, cash prices for the best floats first, second and third. Without out the support of the community and business the parade would not be able to continue to be as successful as in recent years, so please support us.

CHARITY CONCERT: The seventh annual charity concert organised and performed by the Traditional Irish Music course will be held on this Friday 1st March. This evening of Irish music, song and dance will be held in the Mayflower community centre, Drumshanbo commencing at 8pm. All the proceeds will be donated to St Vincent de Paul, Drumshanbo, the Breffni Centre, and Carrick on Shannon and Stop Suicide .Manorhamilton. Tickets are only €5(u-12s free) and each ticket will be entered into a draw for €100. So come along for a great evening of Ceol agus craic!!!!

BALLINAGLERA YOUTH DISCO: A Youth Disco will take place in Ballinaglera Hall Friday 1st of March, 9 – 11.30 pm.  Event fully supervised - parents please note, volunteers always needed.  All young people between the ages of 10 and 14 welcome.  Great DJ and fun guaranteed!

INEZ LAUNCHES BOOK: Inez Mc Padden (formerly O’Callaghan) will be signing copies of her first book “My Angels and Me” in Mulvey’s, Main Street, Carrick on Shannon on the 9th of March at 4pm.

SENIOR CITIZENS: Senior Citizens will meet on this afternoon (Wednesday) at 2pm in Áras Phádraig for the weekly chat and a cuppa. New members always welcome.

25CARD DRIVE: The popular Allen Gaels 25 card Drive continues every Sunday evening in the Clubhouse at 8.30.Everybody welcome .Refreshments served.
