In very favourable weather and for which the organisers thank almighty God the man from the north pole arrived in Town led by piper Sean Kelly with John Sheannon Cashel once again providing transport. From the reviewing stand on the town’s market square kindly made available by the management of B & F stores the ceremony of turning on the festive season lights was performed by a pupil from Ballinagh National School Kacper Michalski with amplification by Kenneth Lowry while the local school choir provided the delightful singing which was much appreciated by the very large attendance. Local county councillor Winston Bennett again provided the Christmas tree free of charge with local residents William and Willie doing trojan work in transporting and erection of the tree.
