GARDENING CLUB: The April meeting of Castlepollard Gardening Club will take place on Thursday evening, April 25th, at 8.00pm in the Parish Community Centre, Church Street, Castlepollard. The speaker for the evening will be Colm O’Shea, Head Gardener at Tullynally Castle and Gardens, and the subject he will be talking about on the evening will be “Gardening in Springtime”. The competition on the night will be for the best three tulips, and the AGM will also take place. All are welcome and the Club would also like to see some new faces as well as people who have been members in the past coming to avail of gardening tips from guest speakers and other members.
KILLAFREE CEMETERY: The Killafree Cemetery Renewal Committee are having a fun walk to raise funds on Sunday, May 5th, at 3.00pm. The participants will meetat McCormack’s Lounge, The Square, at 2.45pm and the walk will begin at 3.00pm. Sponsorship cards are available and the organiser would like to see as many people as possible on the day. This is a very worthwhile project and great work has been done in the cemetery over the past few years.

SOCCER REUNION: Next Saturday, April 20th, sees the eagerly anticipated Castlepollard FC reunion which will take place in Hotel Castlepollard. The event will reunite players from North Westmeath who played during the 1970’s and 1980’s up to the present day. The side achieved some great victories, not least of which was a victory in the Mullingar League in 1979. The reunion encompasses all the various clubs which existedover the last 40years - Castlepollard FC, Cionn Torc FC, Townspark FC,and the current club, Castlepollard Celtic. The organisers are appealing for anyone with jerseys, photos, trophies, press clipping, medals etc. make them available for display on the night and everything will be returned to the owners. John Flynn, Martin Fagan, John Hardman, Tom Flynn and Pat Cullen are organising the event, and further information may be had by contacting any of the organisers.
COOLE PARENT & TODDLER GROUP: The Coole Parent & Toddler Group meet every Thursday morning in Coole Hall between 10.30am and 12.30pm. There are many activities for children of all ages, as well as the opportunity for a cup of tea and a chat for the parents.
CFCW GAA CLUB REUNION: Castletown-Finea/Coole/Whitehall GAA Club are holding a reunion of all past players, mentors, supporters etc. in Ringtown GAA Centre, Whitehall, Castlepollard, on Sunday, May 5th, There will be a BBQ, dancing, music and craic, and the opportunity to meet past team mates etc. For further information contact Ned Flynn on 086-3214531.
CONGRATULATIONS: Congratulations and very well done to the 2nd year Business Students from Castlepollard Community College who were awarded “Best Display” at the recent Student Enterprise Awards which were held in Golden Island Shopping Centre in Athlone. The students were Jessica Farrell, Aoife Fitzsimons and Charlotte Maher. Their enterprise was called “Hampers Unique”. Very well done to the students and their teacher Ms. Terese Kenefick.
