Walk in my Shoes: Fun Walk to raise funds for the provision of Free Mental health services for young adults across Ireland will take place on Sunday 28th April from Leo Casey pitch at 12 noon. Wear your funky or mis-matched shoes and donate two euro on the day. Everyone welcome.

GAA: Ballymahon/Forgney Gaels will hold an important Club meeting from 9.15p.m. to 10.15p.m. on Tuesday next, April 30th. Attendance at meetings to date has been poor and the meeting due last Friday, April 19th did not take place as there was insufficient numbers. Can all Mentors, committee members please attend this next meeting.

Glee Club: The Local Glee Club (singing, dancing and acting for children) is looking for a Volunteer to help out with weekly Clubs. The suitable person would need to be energetic and enthusiastic to learn about and be involved in children’s performance/staging. This would be a great learning opportunity for any young person interested in working with children and who has a passion for singing, dancing, drama or all. Innyside singers: The Innyside Singers have their weekly sessions on Thursday nights at 8p.m. in The Bog lane Theatre. Hopefully there will be full attendances for these last few practices coming up to the Concert in May.

The Gathering: Ballymahon Landevant-Landaul French Twinning committee’s planning is well advanced for the forthcoming visit of our Breton visitors, who arrive in Ballymahon the first week in May. The group of 22 are being hosted by local families and will enjoy a host of organised community events. They hope to see you there. A Committee meeting will be held on Tuesday 30th April at 8p.m. in the River Inn. All members are requested to attend.

Senior football: Congratulations to the Ballymahon Senior football team who beat Ballymore in their Division 2 league match in Leo Casey Park on Saturday evening last on a scoreline of 1-17 to 1-6 with Colm Flynn scoring an impressive 1-11. We wish the lads the best of luck in their remaining games. Next weekend see both Reserve teams and Minors in action.

Titanic Exhibition: The Carrickedmond P.T.A.A. trip to the titanic Exhibition in Belfast will take place on Sunday 30th June. Leo Casey History Group: The Group’s next meeting will be held on Wednesday 24th April at 8.00p.m. in the usual venue, the Dean Egan Community Centre. This meeting will continue preparations for the next history publication by the group. Usual cup of tea and biscuits will be served on the night. New members for the history group are always very welcome, so why not go along to hear local history and lore.

Summer Choral Celebration: Tickets are now on sale for a special Summer Choral Celebration which we look forward to sharing with our friends from Landevant-Landaul in France and in this, the year of the Gathering. The Innyside Singers are presenting an evening of choral song in St. Matthews Church on Monday, May 6th with a range of local vocalists and musicians. All are welcome to come along, tickets are just €10 each and the proceeds will go towards supporting local Charities. Tickets can be bought at Nally’s Garage. The Concert will commence at 7p.m.

Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes: the annual Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes will take place from May 27th to June 1st this year. The fully inclusive price is €699. Kilcommoc Cemetery Extension: There will be a meeting on Monday next, 29th April in Kenagh Community Centre at 8.30p.m. to discuss plans for extending the Cemetery in Kilcommoc and to form a new Development Committee. All plot holders and interested parties are requested to attend.

18th Birthday: Congratulations to Niamh Connell, Moydow who celebrated her 18th Birthday with her family and lots of friends in Paddy’s Pub on Saturday night last. We wish you all the best for the future Niamh.

Sympathy: We wish to extend our deepest sympathy to the family of Patrick Fox, Maryrath, The Pigeons who died suddenly at his home on April 15th, to Patrick’s sister, sister-in-law, brothers-in-law, his aunt, nieces, nephews, relatives and all his friends. Patrick was a highly respected member of the local farming community, a most obliging neighbour and hard worker all his life. His remains were laid to rest at Temple-a-Valley Cemetery on Friday last. May God grant rest to his Soul.

Good Friday Cake Sale: The annual Good Friday cake sale which helps raise funds to facilitate the work of the Cemetery Committee at Shrule this year raised €940. The Committee, who are a small group of very dedicated voluntary workers would welcome some new members to assist them in their work throughout the year. Please contact Jim Walsh. Eucharistic Adoration: A meeting will be held in the Liturgical Centre, Athlone tonight, Wednesday April 24th at 8.00p.m. for representatives from the following Adoration groups: Athlone, Ballymahon, Coosan, Moate, Mount Temple and Ferbane. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss how to support and encourage, share ideas on how to promote Eucharistic Adoration in our Parishes. It is important that this parish be represented by some of those involved in the Eucharistic Adoration every Tuesday. Please let Sr. Vincent know if you are available to attend the meeting.

Death of William Ganly: The death occurred on April 17th at Portiuncula Hospital, Ballinasloe of Mr. William Ganly, Lissoy, The Pigeons. William was a grand, quiet gentleman, a popular member of the farming community, a man of gentle disposition. He will be sadly missed by his family, neighbours and friends to whom we extend our deepest sympathy. William’s remains were interred at Tubberclair Cemetery following Funeral mass on Saturday morning last. May he rest in peace.

World Youth Day 2013: Rio De Janeiro: Due to financial and safety concerns, the diocesan Youth Ministry has decided not to participate directly in what will be an amazing event, especially since it will also mark the first visit of our new Pope Francis to South America. Instead a decision has been taken to take part in a parallel event, called Brightlights 2013 being organised at Aylesford Priory in Kent. It will take place at the same time as the World Youth Day and there will be live link-ups with the Rio event. It will take place from Friday, July 26th to Tuesday, July 30th. The cost is €600 which will include the cost of flights, transfers, transport, meal and accommodation, theatre tickets and travel insurance. Poetry Competition: The Goldsmith National Poetry Competition is inviting entries for this year’s event. The competition is run in conjunction with the 29th Annual Goldsmith Literary Festival which is one of the longest-running literary events in Ireland.
