DEATH OF JACK DALTON: On Sunday morning last our community sadly became aware of the death of one of our most senior and highly regarded citizens Jack Dalton Druming,at St Joseph’s Hospital after a long illness.
Jack will be forever remembered for his work in the community which included all aspects of parish activities with a keen interest in current affairs and politics. He was a very popular master of ceremonies at events but particularly during time of parish week bazaar. He was a dedicated farmer all his life. He will be sadly missed by all that knew him but particularly by his wife Philomena ,daughters Rose Frances Teresa and Ann grandchildren relatives and friends. His removal took place on Monday evening to St Anne’s Church Ballycloghan and he was laid to rest following requiem mass on Tuesday to Ardagh cemetery. May he rest in pace.
ENJOYABLE NIGHT: A very enjoyable night was had by all at the recent Legans Sarfields barbecue and pig roasting which was aided by good weather. The GAA club would like to thank all who helped in any way to make the night a success.
AURORA CLUB: The Aurora Club had a very interesting and enjoyable tour to Belfast on Thursday last. The highlight was the visit to the new Titanic attraction which was unveiled earlier this year. Fine weather made for a very comfortable and memorable day.
WALKING CLUB: This Saturday St Peters Walking Club will start from Abbeyshrule at 10am with the usual long an shorter walk for all abilities. New members especially welcome.
GAA LOTTO: Results of GAA Lotto draw held in Mitchells on Monday July 23rd. Numbers drawn were 15,18,27 and 29. There was no jackpot winner. Match three winners of 50 euro each were Hugh Greene and Paul Ross. This week draw took place in Connaughton’s Rathowen for a jackpot of 4750 euro. Results next week.
FIRST FRIDAY: This Friday August 3rd is the Fist Friday of the month and Holy Communion calls to the sick and housebound on Thursday and Friday mornings at usual times.
