MRS MARY VENTON: There was profound sadness throughout the district with news of the death of Mrs Mary Venton Crenard Ballinagh. A quiet friendly and most inoffensive lady who was held in the highest esteem by the people over a very wide area. Her passing is widely mourned. Predeceased by her husband George she is survived by her son Robert daugter Mrs Elizabeth Hislop Coolnacarrig Ballinagh granddaughters Etel and Joyce great granddaughter Beth brothers and extended family to whom I convey the sympathy of our community. The final which was of extremely large dimensions and bore ample testimony of the esteem with which the family are held within the region took place following service in Kilmore Cathedral to family burial plot.

MR JAMES COSTELLO: There was widespread sorrow with the news of the death at his home in Drumbo of Mr Jimmy Costello a most respected man who for several decades had a thriving business as a bread salesman over a very large area of county Cavan with his visits to all shops throughout the region with his van load of fresh bread cakes buns etc being eagerly looked forward to by shop owners and customers alike. always in good humour and with all the latest releases on all matters relevant to the Cavan GAA a meeting with Jimmy provided all the answers to what was happening on and off the field of play. He also enjoyed the occasional race meeting. Four of his sons Fergus John Tommie and Phelim (RIP) were prominent players on the gaelic football field. Predeceased by his wife Peggy ten years ago this month and also by his daughter in law Paula who also passed to her eternal reward in the same month while his son Phelim passed away in January 2007. May their souls rest in peace and to the Costello family I extend the sympathy of our community.
