Waist Removal Drumreilly: Welcome to our new members who joined us last week. Carmel Mulvey gave a very interesting talk last Wednesday night on how to reduce calorie intake through cutting out sugar and fat. She outlined the high sugar content of many foods and drinks we consume on a daily basis and left us with plenty of food for thought. The group lost four and a half stone, well done to everyone. Colm Reilly from The Nature Trail will be our speaker next Wednesday night. Our Sunday morning walk continues at 11am. New members are still welcome to join.
Lucky Scholarship Winner: At a recent function in the Bush Hotel, Ck on Shannon six lucky students were recipients of €1,000 each from the Josie Martin Scholarship Fund. One of the lucky students was Kevin, Murtagh, son of John and Jacqueline Murtagh, Drumcoura. We congratulate him on his good fortune.
The Bazaar: When the chairs have been pulled back after next Friday night’s Bingo session, Drumreilly’ forty-third annual Bazaar will swing into action. The Bazaar will start on Friday and run again on Saturday 8th December night immediately after Mass in St. Mary’s Church. You are asked to come early. Donations of prizes will be gratefully accepted.
Recalling December 1971: Drumreilly Bazaar ran from December 5th to December 14th (incl.), excluding Mondays and Saturdays. Mattie Fee and Monica Darcy had announced their engagement. The pupils of Kilmore and Gortahose schools put on an enjoyment in Drumlea Hall where Santa arrived at the interval with “all kinds of everything”. In Diocesan changes Drumreilly Upper was amalgamated e with Carrigallen and Fr. Bernard Doyle C.C. who had ministered in Drumreilly parish for two and a half years was transferred to Corraleehan, and replaced by Fr. Patrick Sullivan C.C.
Active Age Snippets: Seventeen members attended the weekly meting on Wednesday November 28th. Our Guest speaker was Nurse Ruth Taylor. Twelve members had taken part in the enjoyable Fenagh Table Quiz earlier in the week. Arrangements were made regarding the Group’s annual Christmas Party. The Christmas wreath-making was arranged to start on Tuesday of this week, and members would also attend the production of Best Exotic Marigold in the Corn Mill Theatre in Carrigallen on Tuesday. Guest speaker Maura Williams will attend this week’s meeting on Wednesday December 5th. to discuss briefly Gathering 2013. Further discussion on arranging a possible Art Class will take place at this meeting.
