CHRISTMAS CRAFT FAIR: Local community fair on Sunday 9 December 2012, shop at Post Office, Carrigallen, 12.00 – 4pm. The ‘Carrigallen Quilt’ designed and made by Crafty Ladies will be raffled off as fundraiser for NW Hospice and ISPCA. Local children will also display their sewing projects which they are very proud of, so come along for a taste of Christmas ! We appreciate your support of your local community and local charities.
CARRIGALLEN WOMENS GROUP: On behalf of our group we wish to thank all those who participated in our recent fashion show, notably the shops United Colours of Bennetton and Denim Plus Cavan, Raval and Bonnie B Carrick on Shannon who showed a fantastic range of fashions. To Jennifer Wrynne who provided the many colourful and creative head pieces, Pretty Things Gifts and Lunar Accessories who displayed their collections. Thanks to Pat Dunne Beautician who provided her skills and expertise in the make up room. To Philip McIntyre who enhanced the show with his lighting and music experience and especially to our local models who looked fabulous and did an excellent job on the cat walk. Sincere thanks to everyone who sponsored the spot prizes for the raffle and donated to the charities. We are grateful to everyone who attended on the night and enjoyed a wonderful night of fashion and entertainment. A total of 3000 euro has been raised for Breast Cancer and the local Carers Group which will be presented and acknowledged at a later date.
CARRIGALLEN GUN CLUB: Carrigallen Gun Club will host Seamus O’Rourke’s new and hilarious play ‘For Club and County’ in the Corn Mill Theatre, Carrigallen on Wednesday 5 December 2012 at 8.30pm sharp. This is a Moth Production in association with the GAA social initiative and ASAP programme -For Club and County – The making of a Sporting Hero stars Tommy Sharkey,Karina Charles and Shane O’Connor. Admission is 15 euro and booking is essential on 049 4339612.Doors open at 8pm. Spot prizes on the night. Carrigallen Gun Club held their annual pheasant competition on Thursday 1 November in MJs bar. The club would like to thank Pat Mitchell for the use of the premises and for providing refreshments and Pat Mitchell,Pat Masterson,Kevin Sheridan and Cathal Sheridan for donating spot prizes on the night. The club would also like to thank the local farmers for the continued use of their lands in the area.
SENIOR CITIZENS CHRISTMAS PARTY: Carrigallen and Drumreilly Community Care Christmas Party will be held on Sunday 9 December 2012 at 3pm sharp in the Kilbracken Arms Hotel, Carrigallen (weather permitting). Everybody welcome.
CARRIGALLEN TIDY TOWNS: A well attended meeting of Carrigallen Tidy Towns took place on Tuesday night last where they heard from Michael Kirby of Meehan & Tully Consultants who was employed by Carrigallen Development some time ago to draw up a tidy town plan under a Leitrim Development Scheme. Michael explained how the marking system for the competition had changed from a simple view of the tidiness and presentability to all encompassing view of the area taking in evidence of efforts regarding waste minimization , heritage conservation etc, recycling and preservation of nature trails and walks. Following Michael’s presentation the following officers were elected chairperson Paddy O’Rourke;secretary Ann O’Malley, while treasurers are Pat Masterson and John O’Malley. A further meeting is to be held early in January to agree the final plan along with a schedule of work for the coming season.
VINTAGE TRACTOR MEETING: The annual general meeting of the South Leitrim/West Cavan Vintage Tractor Club will be held on Monday 10th December at 9pm in Corlough Community Centre (beside Martins Coaches on the Swanblinbar Road , 3 miles from Ballinamore). A representative from FBD Insurance will be in attendance on the night to discuss all aspects of vintage insurance. New members welcome.
KILIMANJARO FASHION EVENT: On Saturday 8 December 2012, a fashion event in aid of North West Hospice and Crumlin Childrens Hospital is taking place in Fatima Secondary School Ballinamore starting at 2pm. This event will include a fashion show, displaying high quality new or almost new clothing at bargain prices. There will also be a cheese and wine reception. We are in search of high quality new or almost new clothing, hats shoes or headpieces which you are willing to sell. Please send these items into the school by Wednesday Dec 5th. Also insert a short description of the item, maybe where it was bought and the price for which it was bought at. Also include the price at which you want to sell the item. 43RD ANNUAL FUND RAISING BAZAAR: The annual fund raising bazaar in aid of Drumreilly Community Centre on Friday 7th Dec after the weekly bingo and again on Saturday 8th (after Mass). All donations and attendance greatly appreciated. Annual prize draw takes place on Saturday 8th. Each household will receive tickets.
