Presentation: The presentation night for the Mostrim & District Vintage Club Tractor Run will take place on Saturday night 6th October at 9pm in the Mostrim Arms Hotel. The cheques will be presented to representatives from Edgeworthstown District Development Association and Rath Mhuire & Dolmen services Ltd. There will be an auction and raffle on the night along with music. A DVD of the run will also be launched & will be available to buy for €5. We look forward to seeing you there.

Health Fair: Longford Branch of Arthritis are hosting a Health Fair on Saturday 22nd September in The Temperance Hall from 11am to 4pm. Admission id free. Healthcare Professionals attending are : Chiropractor, Reflexology, Bi-aura Healing, Physiotherapists, chiropodists, Therapeutic Hand Massages and many more. Information booklets on all forms of arthritis for all age groups and information on courses and programmes being organised by Arthritis Ireland. A fiddlesticks Walking Programme using nordic Poles demonstration will take place at 12.30 and 2pm All welcome, Refreshments and raffle on the day, All enquiries to 086-8160080.

Collection: The Longford branch of the alzheimers society of Ireland are having their church Gate collection on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd September throughout the county. The money raised will contribute to our continued services in the area. This includes homecare service, and day care facilities. Please give Generously.

Classes: Edgeworthstown Development are running Internet and email Classes in the Old Schoolhouse, Ballymahon Road, Edgeworthstown. Classes will be 2 hours long for 2 weeks. Mornings or evenings. Learn to use the internet, Book Flights and use online services and social network sites. Learn how to set up an email address and to send and receive mail. Coffee morning: Coffee morning will be hosted by the Edgeworthstown District Development Association on Thursday 20th September at 11am in the Green, Proceeds to Longford Hospice.

Classes: Computer Classes for Beginners will be starting in The Old Schoolhouse from 10am to 12.30 on Tuesday mornings. The course is FETAC level 3 accredited. Places are limited.The Course is free. To book call 043-66-71801. Also there will be Classes in Computer Literacy, internet Skills, English, Art and Design and cookery. These courses will run one morning per week from 10am to 1pm and are funded bt the BTEI. There are secretarial services available from the Edgeworthstown District Development including: Typing letters, CV’s Posters and brochures, Photocopying, Online services e,g booking flights etc. hours of business 9.30 to 5pm from Monday to Thursday and from 9.30 to 4pm on Fridays.

Recent deaths: Deepest sympathy is extended to the family and friends of the late Bridie Heavey from Pound Street who passed away on September 8th . Bridie is survived by her daughters, Marie, Patricia, Margaret, son John, sons in law, daughter in law, Grand-daughters, brothers and sisters, extended family and friends. May she rest in peace. Sympathy is also extended to the family of the late Bridgie Clyne on her untimely death. Bridgie is survived by her husband Kevin, Daughters, Majella and Esther, sons David and Nicholas, Grandchildren, sisters and brothers, And her extended family. May she rest in Peace. Sympathy also goes to Margaret Devine from Shantum on the death of her mother and Marian Rynn from Kilbride Park on the death of her mother.

Pilgrimage: The annual Legion of Mary Pilgrimage to knock takes place on Sunday 23rd September. Bus leaving Edgeworthstown at 10am from The Park House. Tickets €15, Contact shona Murphy on 085-7202830 if interested.

Birthday wishes: Belated birthday wishes to Rosie Casey on the occasion of her 60th Birthday which she celebrated in style with her family and also to Anne Marie Kennedy on the occasion of her 40th last weekend. Best wishes to both of them.

Cultural evening: The joe Callaghan Branch of CCE would like all musicians young and old to come along to their cultural evening in The Heritage Centre in Ardagh this Friday night 21st starting at 7pm. all welcome.

German and French: German and French classes for adults and secondary school children begin next Wednesday 26th September in Ardagh Hertitage and Creativity Centre. German from 5.30 to 6.15pm, €8 per person. French from 6.30 to 7.15pm €8 per person. Also German Club for children starting on Saturday 29th September from 11am to 12pm, €7 per person. Midlands shotokan karate: Sensei Ciaran Wadd will be starting a new beginner’s class in karate in St. Mary’s Community Campus Hall, Edgeworthstown on September 29 from 11am to 12pm.
