Ballinamore

Agricultural Show: What a great day for the Agricultural Show; the weather was what a normal August day should have been, people came out in droves, it looked like the best attended show for many years. The marquee contained the finest vegetables, fruit, flowers, crafts and photos. The baking looked very appetising; I managed to sneak a slice of coffee cake which I enjoyed immensely. Spied Mary McCaffrey taking back her prise winning bakery, Mary has been producing fine baking for the Ballinamore Agricultural Show every since it started and has won prises for cakes and bread every year since. Her rich fruit cake is known wide and far. My congratulations go to the many talented bakers who exhibited this year, a special mention to Clare Creamer and Marian Burns who are the young contenders to Mary. Congratulations to Monica Hudson, Convent Rd Ballinamore for being the glamorous granny winner and Teresa Canning of Garvagh for best dressed lady and all the other attractive entrants who won prizes.

Festival Committee: Would like to thank all the agencies who helped the festival to be one of the most enjoyable and successful events. Each year the Leitrim County Council make a great effort to see that Ballinamore is safe and clean each morning by keeping the town looking great. Many thanks to the local guards for all their help and support. The stewards and helpers did an amazing job and without them and the many people who row in and do all the work needed we would not be able to have a festival. Could the people who have invoices to be paid please send them in as soon as possible to a member of the committee.
