LOTTO DRAW: Monday July 9 results. The numbers drawn were 7, 14, 20 & 25. The drawn winners include Pat Byrnes, Eugene Duggan and Philip with sellers prize going to Cyril O’Connor. The next draw is 23rd July in Feerick’s Hotel.
SIGNATURE FOR POSTERITY: Local artist and gallery owner, Lorraine O’Brien has a new project for the community called ‘A Signature for Posterity’. The Community is invited to call in to Rathowen Stores and sign their name to the giant canvas that Lorraine has in store. Any member of the community who wishes to participate, is asked to sign your signature with whatever medium or colour you wish, paint marker pen or pencil. (Markers are provided). The canvas will be in Rathowen Stores (beside the Post Office) for a month and it will be then framed and put on display at Alla Prima Art Gallery during the weekend of the Festival. Remember the posterity of any community is the community itself so come and immortalize yourself on canvas!
ART & CRAFT COMPETITION: The Rathowen Festival art & craft competition is now open and all entries can be left in Rathowen stores before Tuesday 7th August next. Don’t forget to put your name, age and school on the back of your work. The competition age categories are three to five years, six to nine years and 10 to 13 years. In the two years of the festival, there has always been a great response to the art & craft section, with fine talent entering and making the judges job very difficult! Best of luck to all who enter and don’t forget closing date is the 7th August.
ST FINTAN’S/ BUNBROSNA/INNYSHAMROCKS: Training this Thursday evening in Streete at 7pm. Well done to all concerned in the celebrity training sessions held in Bunbrosna last Saturday. U14 game on Thurs at 7pm in Castlepollard College against Ballycomoyle. This is a championship game and players are to be at pitch at 6:30pm. A game will also take place in Streete on Monday 23rd v Delvin with time to be confirmed. Under 13 match V Rosemount on Wednesday 18th at 7pm in Bunbrosna.
RATHOWEN FESTIVAL: The preparations for this year’s festival continue to gain momentum. The Committee is hard at work putting the final schedule of events together. The festival, as already advised is on the week-end of August 11th 2012. Items sure to draw the crowds are the 5km road race and the Road Safety Authority (RSA) demonstration unit on the Friday evening. More details will follow in next week’s issue with regards to the other events for the Field Day on Sunday 12th August. We would like to thank all the people who have given of their time to date and any of you who are interested in lending a hand we would be only too glad of the support. The meetings are held each Thursday at 9pm in the Community Hall.
