The parents association of the sacred heart national school in Granard are holding a table quiz in Fay’s lounge Granard on this Friday night June 10th starting at 9-00pm.Your generous support will be much appreciated.


Ballymore Gaa held their monthly draw in Creegan’s on Sunday night last and the first prize of one thousand euro was won by Donal McElvaney while Seamus Columb,Sean Tynan Andrew Dempsey and Dorrie McAndrew all won one hundred euro each.Next draw in McElvaney’s on Sunday June 26th.


Deepest and sincere sympathy is extended to Dympna and Gerry Kiernan and family Leitrim Coolarty on the death of Dympna’s father Patrick Brady Edenmore last week.We also offer our sympathy to Patrick’s wife and all members of his family at this sad time.May he rest in peace.



On Monday night June 20th next the Park House Hotel in Edgeworthstown will celebrate its 25th anniversary with a host of well known artists appearing on the night.Names like Jimmy Buckley Patrick Feeney Larry Cunningham John Hogan Chuck and June Fr.Brian Darcy Derek Davis to name b a few will all entertain on the night and as usual all proceeds will go to CANCER CARE RESEARCH,St.Christopher’s in Longford and Aware so come along and see some of your favourite acts,meet Joe Finnegan and Eugene Murphy from shannonside,wish Frank luck as he starts his year as county mayor and most of all help three very worthy causes.Tickets are on sale at the hotel reception.


A number of cyclists from the area left from longford on Sunday morning last to cycle the 110 mile to Croagh Patrick where on arrival the proceeded to climb the famous reek and to join in a Mass celebrated by Fr.Simon Cadam PP Granard.Inspite of the very wet day we understand that this was a very successful day and we congratulate all involved.All proceeds from the cycle go to the Lourdes invalid fund.Full report next week.


All roads will lead to Abbeylara on Sunday June 12th next when the annual Field day will be staged in aid of the parish centre. Come along and enjoy the day.

The young women’s group from Lus Na Greine are holding a Bake Sale on Sunday June 19th next from 10am to 1-00pm in the Lus Na Greine centre on main street.The group will appreciate any home baking and purchases on the day.Please support.


A second collection will be taken up at all Masses in St.Mary’s next weekend with all proceeds going to the Lourde invalid fund.


Congratulations to Cliadhna Sheirdan and Brian Gibson who were married in Italy on May 30th last.We join with both families in wishing you a long and happy life together.
