Cemetery Sunday will be celebrated on Sunday June 26th at 12 noon. A blessing of the graves procession will follow mass service at approximately 1p.m.

PRIESTS’ RETREAT

Many of the Priests from the diocese will be on retreat this week at Dalgan Park, Navan, which is home to the Columbian missionaries. Should you need to contact a priest, please call (043) 3346465.

SCOIL MHUIRE

An art competition was launched by the Tidy Towns committee in conjunction with 4th, 5th and 6th class students from the school. The running theme was ‘What Newtownforbes Means To Me’. Congratulations to Culainn Hutchinson, Katie O’Regan, Ciara Nevin and Dearbhaile Madden who were the winners. Their winning portraits will be exhibited on signs at the entrance to the village and also on at the exit. A sincere thanks to Thomas Casey who provided sponsorship of the competition.

SIAMSA

There will be an Irish Language summer course entitled ‘Siamsa, is Feidir Linn’ organised for the week from Monday 11th July to 15th July, in Gaelscoil Longfoirt. Classes are scheduled from 9.30a.m. – 3p.m. daily and are aimed at 3rd – 6th class students. Details and application forms can be sourced from Yvonne Ni Mhurchu at (087) 2642665.

This week’s winning numbers were 3,5,7,8. The winners are as follows: €100 – Susan Thompson, €50 – Andrew, Abigail and Emma Flynn, €25 – Seamus Mahady and Susan Thompson. The subsequent draw will be held in McGowan’s and the jackpot is €5,200.

OLD COLLECTION

The staff and student body at Scoil Mhuire are currently collecting old mobile phones. Their target is to collect a minimum of 250 phones which they will then exchange in return for a defiblerator. If you have any old phones, please donate them to the school. If you would like more information please contact the school on (043) 3345220.

BUS TO LOUGH DERG

SUMMER CAMP

The Newtownforbes Summer Camp will be held in the Sports Complex from July 4th – 8th and the duration of each begins at 9.30a.m. and ends at 2p.m. The entertaining week packed with activities is available to all Primary school students. Application forms can be collected on Friday June 10th at the Sports Complex from 1.45p.m. – 3.15p.m. Details of the camp can be found by contacting (087) 9857683.
