DARTS

DARTS

The final of the under twenty fives single competition brought darts to a close for another year last Friday night in Jackie’s. There was a very good turnout of young players, and the standard of darts was very good with some very close matches. The semi finalist were Brian Mitchell V Shane Quinn Sean winning through to the final, and Joe McGirl V Shane O’Neill in the second semi-final, Shane winning that one. In the final Shane O’Neill beat Sean Quinn.

Well done to everyone who took part in the competition, thanks to Olive McIntyre who ran the whole show, and to Terry Shortt who organised the competition.

POOL LEAGUE

A list of all the players involved with each team will be given round this week and to all the captains of each team please collect the €10 fee of all the players as soon as possible, I will be going round to the pubs Friday week to collect it so make sure every player has paid and it will allow each player into the free Draw on the night of the Final.

Also the determination of some players is unreal and one in particular who has been “power-walking” the paths of Ballinamore for the last few months in order to get in shape the league and it is great to know he will have no problem tucking in the tummy when it comes to taking a shot anymore, welcome back.

PEACE WALK

Our regular visitors walking from Belfast to Knock will be coming through town again soon. The walk takes place over 5 days from Wednesday to Sunday with the group arriving in Ballinamore on the Thursday having walked all the way from Clones in Monaghan. They have a beautiful Mass in the church that evening at which everyone is welcome to attend and then they walk on to Boyle on the Friday. If anyone that can give a walker a bed for the night would be much appreciated and the generosity and welcome of the people of the parish over the years has made their stay in Ballinamore the highlight of their pilgrimage. This year the walkers will be with us on Thursday 14 July and if you can help in any way it would make a big difference to those taking part. We will collect contact details in the coming weeks. Thank you.
