Death: The area was stunned on Monday last when the news of the sudden and unexpected death of John Brady, Carricknabrick became known. Having enjoyed excellent health all his life his sudden passing was all the more trumatic for his wife Valerie and daughter Séana and son Patrick; brother Charlie and sister Maura and family members to whom we extend our deepest sympathy.

Known affectionately as Red John he was one of this parish’s favourite sons and his passing has left a great void not only in his family but in farming circles and in the local community where he gained the respect of all creeds and classes. May he Rest in Peace.

Route 55: The extremely heavy volume of traffic using the N55 has resulted in proposed road straitening which has been on the cards for a long number of years and hardly a week goes by but there is an accident on the stretch from Corduff to Killydoon. Realignment work in the Corduff area is progressing well but while Cavan Co Council engineers had their consultation with locals in the Parochial hall some time ago regarding the stretch from Oghill to Dundevan, there have been no developments to date.
