COMMUNITY GAMES

Killoe Community Games annual Social Night & Fundraiser will take place in Begley’s pub, Ennybegs on Saturday night the 11th of June. We hope that we will have a great night’s entertainment and the usual great support we receive from parents and the wider community.

National Finals Weekend One took place between the 27th and 29th of May in Athlone. Killoe were very well represented

at this event and our participants did themselves, their parish and their county proud. In Indoor Soccer, our Boys U15 team met Dingle in their semi-final. This strong Kerry team, who went to win the final, beat Killoe with a 4-1 scoreline. The play off for 3rd and 4th place was a rough game against Ballymore, Co. Sligo. Killoe were unfortunate to have two goals disallowed, and the final scoreline in this game was Ballymore 4, Killoe 3. Whilst the players may have been dissappointed with their placing, it is a great achievement to take 4th place National Medals – well done and congratulations to you all and to manager Mark Hughes on reaching this level.

In recitation, Marie Lynch took to the National stage with an entertaining and convincing performance of ‘The Greatest Show On Earth’. With a total of 18 entrants in this category, Marie had the great achievement of taking 7th place in Ireland. Well done Marie and congratulations on a great performance.

Co. Longford was represented in the U13 Choir by our Killoe boys and girls. This talented young group gave a beautiful rendition of three songs - Adiemus, Limerick You’re a Lady and Dublin on a Sunny Summer Morning. While our Choir was not placed for medals, the standard of their performance was very high and they received a great response from the audience. Congratulations to Choir members Leah Dunleavy, Gráinne Pierce, Mischa Fox, Aisha Kanu, Kayleigh Gilna, Alanna Carr, Aoife Caherly, Jade Gill, Fiona Hebron, Amie Lennon, Shona Rowley, Marie Brady, Katie O’Driscoll, Darren Dooner, Paul Brady, David Heffernan, Shane McManus, Dean Fitzmaurice and Eamon Keogh. Congratulations also to Gráinne Fox who trained and directed the Choir - thank you for your commitment, patience and hard work in drawing out the singing talents of this young group.

Good luck to our U12 Soccer team who take on Meath in their Leinster round at 7.30pm on Friday the 10th of June in Abbeycartron.

Our Sports Day results mistakenly appeared in the Sportspage last week instead of in the Killoe notes.
