It’s that time of the year again when John and Sheila Reynolds are treating us all to a bog outing in the old style on Drumgrania bog on Saturday next June 11th. The sléans and the barrows will begin their traditional work at 11 o’clock in the morning and will be flat out until the bog hole is bottomed, hopefully some time before dark. If last year is anything to go by it will be a most enjoyable day. John and Sheila’s exploits at feed the throngs of people who made their way up the bog pass was nothing short of a miracle. Everyone present ate their fill out of a small skillet pot. Anyone out there who fancy themselves as sléansmen or women should come along on Saturday. Last year was some experience and this year promises to be even better.

Ciara Kelleher travelled last year to the Republic of Moldova during the summer with the Irish Charity ‘Outreach Moldova’ to undertake volunteer work in Hincesti orphanage, which is situated 50 km from the capital Chisinau. She is returning to Moldova this summer to help out in the orphanage again. As part of her fundraising campaign for the project Ciara is holding a ‘Boxty and Burger’ evening at her home in Errew on Sunday, June 19th at 4 pm. Everyone is invited along.

We wish Cathal McCrann, Ciaran Egan and their Leitrim teammates good luck on Sunday next when they engage the reigning champions, Roscommon in the Connacht semi final in Páirc Séan. They can feel confident going into this game after their fine performance in beating Sligo last time out.

Congratulations to Gortletteragh National School on winning the Leitrim N.S. championship. Well done.

Congratulations to neighbours Michaela McGovern and Niall Woods who were both overall award winners in the annual school ceremony in Moyne Community School. Michaela was awarded the Monsignor Faughnan award for best student of the year, and Niall received sportsperson of the year. Both are leaving cert students. We wish them and all other students in the parish sitting leaving and junior cert state exams every success.

Best of luck to Hannah Flynn who will participate in the Cumann na mBunscoil display at half time in the Leitrim / Roscommon game on Sunday next in Pairc Sean.
