100 YEARS YOUNG - Her many friends here in Mohill wish to join with the family and friends of Bridget Reilly McCahill St Patricks Nursing home NY USA in wishing her every blessing on celebrating her one hundredth birthday on the 6th March 2011.
Bridget was born in the townland of Gortnalug Mohill but has lived all her working life in New York where she met and married P McCahill. They were blessed with two sons Rev Fr Patrick McCahill NY and Frances McCahill who is married with children. Sadly her husband died many years ago RIP. Thankfully Bridget enjoys good health and we congratulate her on reaching this special milestone in your life’s journey. We hope you reflect back along the roads you have travelled and feel all the warmth and love that comes from the lives you have touched along your way. You have been an inspiration to all who have had the honour of knowing you and you are fondly remembered here in Mohill by your nephew Noel Wynne and his family Mae Reilly McKiernan, Drumshanbo North and her family together with all your cousins & family circle.
Mohill Bluegrass festival is hosting a night of bluegrass music in Clarkes Hotel Mohill on Friday night 1st April next at 9.30pm. This is many such events in the lead up to the festival which starts on the weekend of August 12th to 14th 2011. We are also the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Father of Bluegrass Bill Monroe. Music by Southern Welfare Bluegrass Band . A good night’s entertainment is guaranteed. No cover charge.
On the 23rd March there was a good attendance at bridge in Clarkes Hotel . Results 1st Ella Gannon Marie Walpole; 2nd Peggy Logan Teresa Hamill, Mary Scollan Kay Dolan , Helen Rutter B Wrynn; 3rd Michael Mahon Teresa O’Reilly. The competition for the Farrell Cup will takes place in the coming weeks. Play commences in Clarkes Hotel every Wednesday night commencing at 7.45pm. We welcome new players.
The 4th Leitrim Scouts Group will be holding a coffee morning in the Canon Donohoe Hall Mohill on this Friday 1st April from 10am – 2pm. All funds raised will be donated to the Irish Red cross for their work in Japan. Your support will be appreciated. Thank you.

People from the area are asked to show their support for the retention of Quinn jobs which are so vital to our community by signing the petitions asking the Minister for Finance to approve the Quinn Proposal in relation to Quinn Insurance Ltd. Copies of the petition are available for signing in the local shops businesses at Church entrance and in the Quinn offices in Derrylinn. You can also help by writing to your local public representatives and requesting them to use their influence to move the process forward. Quinn jobs are intrinsically linked to the very fabric of our society. Please support this worthy cause by signing this petition.
Mohill Agricultrual Show Committee wish to thank all those who supported their fundraising table quiz on Friday night last. Thank you to all who made up the teams, those who sent subscriptions and purchased raffle tickets. The committee acknowledge the raffle prizes donated by Baxters Centra Frank & Mary Reynolds Bernie &Peggy Reilly Johnny Rowley, Bridie McIntyre and Ivy Boddy.
