Bornacoola Youth Club Slimathon - Bornacoola Youth Club was founded in 2000 for the youth of the parish and is currently one of the most successful in the county. 

Bornacoola Youth Club Slimathon - Bornacoola Youth Club was founded in 2000 for the youth of the parish and is currently one of the most successful in the county. 

We are currently at planning stage to erect purpose built facility onto the existing community centre where we would hope to expand current age groups from 12 up to 17. We are going to run a fundraising keep-fit/ slimathon over the next 8 weeks commencing with a launch night on April 7th @ 8pm in community Centre. Anyone from 16 upwards is welcome to join in. All participants will receive a pack on registration which will include sponsorship card, weigh in card and information pack. There will be weigh in and activities every Tuesday night with various professionals there to offer help and advice. There will also be free pass to aura Leitrim leisure for all participants. Please support this worthy cause so we can have a facility for our children. Wedding Bells

We extend our congratulations to Mr Trevor Howard, Cloonturk and Miss Michelle Flood, Aughavas who exchanged nuptials on Saturday 19th March last in St Joseph’s, Church, Aughavas with their Wedding reception afterwards in the Radisson Hotel, Cavan where a great day and night was had by one and all. We wish you many years of happiness together.

Cul Camps

Leitrim GAA are currently looking for Cul Camp coaches to work in the VHI GAA Camps during the summer months. Applicants must be over the age of 18 and have completed the Garda vetting process. Anyone interested should send their CV to Leitrim GAA, Páirc Seán Mac Diarmada, Carrick on Shannon before April 4th.

Engagement

GAA club draw

The Bornacoola gaa Club Draw for March took place last Saturday night in the Brandywell Bar in Dromod. Music was by Brian Williams. Winners; €100 John and Teresa O’ Connor. €20 each Mairead Croghan, Sean McNiff, Leonie Duffy, Jim Gannon and Michael Duignan. Your support was much appreciated.

Birthday greetings

We extend birthday greetings to some locals who celebrated their birthdays recently; first to newly-wed Brian Conroy also to my good friend Ronnie Duignan, also Kelly Howard, Cloonturk and Catherine Reynolds, Clooncolry and to Tracy Blake who reached the big 40 on Friday last and finally to three of the one family who celebrated their birthdays in the last seven days (starting with most senior) Mary, Conor and Cora McCauley, Gort. We wish you all many more years of health and happiness.

Sympathy

We would like to offer our condolences to the family and friends Kathleen McGowan, (née Connolly), Moher, Dromod who died on Thursday last at her home. .Kathleen was laid to rest in Cloonmorris cemetery on Saturday last. May she Rest in Peace.

Scoil Mhuire NS

Enrolment Forms for Junior Infants 2011/12 are currently available from the school. Parents interested and considering enrolling their child in Scoil Mhuire are advised to contact the school at 071-9638441 over the next two weeks. Completed Enrolment Forms should be returned to the school by Friday April 15th.

Bornacoola Gun Club

The Bornacoola Gun are currently undertaking a vermin control project. If you have any problems with unwanted visitors around your house or farm such as magpies or grey crows, can you contact Shane at 087 9751993 or any gun club member. Also, members should note that gun club polo tops and jackets are available for collection.

Leitrim Supporters Club

The Leitrim Supporters Club annual draw took place in Cox’s Dromod on Saturday night last. Thanks to all who bought tickets it proved to be a very successful fundraiser, we would like to congratulate all the winners but especially three locals John Woods, Dromod, Timmy Faughnan, Dromod and Seamus Bannon, Tulcon.
