sOCIAL NIGHT - The Carrickedmond GAA club will hold a social night in the Rustic-Inn Abbeyshrule on Saturday night next the 2nd April commencing at 9.30pm. Refreshments will be served on the night. Justin Mc Guire All- Ireland champion Irish dancer will perform on the night also and music will be provided. All in the parish are invited to come along and support your local GAA club.

THANKS

The local Community games group would like to thank everyone who supported their annual church gate collection which was taken up at masses in the parish recently. All money collected will go towards the running of community games activities in the parish during the coming months.

CADG

The CPR/AED class due to take place in the hall on Monday night of last week was cancelled and is now re-scheduled for Thursday night the 7th April. The class will take place in St Sinneachs hall and will commence at 7pm. There are still a few places available and if you are interested in completing this course please contact Seamus Mc Guire at 086-8286748. Anybody aged sixteen years and up can learn the skills of CPR.

HOLY WEEK

Anybody interested in helping out at Holy week ceremonies in the parish are asked to stay back after all masses in Carrickedmond and Abbeyshrule next weekend when a short meeting will be held to finalise details of arrangements. Fr Tiernan is looking for people to read, take part in the washing of feet on Holy Thursday night and collectors.

ENROLMENT

Enrolment for new pupils for the new school year is taking place in St Sinneach’s NS each afternoon from 2pm to 3.10pm up until Friday next the 1st April.

GAA

Carrickedmond senior team commenced their participation in the Longford senior football league on Saturday evening last with a great win over neighbours Ballymahon. We wish the team continued success in the remainder of the senior league.

SYMPATHY

Is extended to Martin Fitzmaurice and family Abbeyshrule on the recent death of his mother Mary-Ellen Fitzmaurice Ballymahon. Sympathy is also extended to Tom Dempsey and family Carrickedmond on the recent death of Tom’s sister Sr Bertha Dempsey who died in San Antonio, Texas. May the souls of Mary-Ellen and Sr Bertha rest in peace.

FISHING

The Abbeyshrule Royal Canal Amenity group are holding a fishing competition on Sunday the 17th April. More information next week.

WELL DONE

Congratulations to the Longford under 21 team and Marty Mulvey who is a member of the team on a great win over Westmeath in the Leinster championship semi final last week.
