DINNER DANCE

Our 38th Annual Legan Sarsfields GAA Dinner Dance took place on Saturday last in the Rustic Inn, Abbeyshrule. This year the Club had a lot to celebrate having won the Division 2 and Division 6 League Titles and also commemorated the 30th anniversary of Legan Sarsfields’ winning of the County Intermediate League and Championship. A presentation to players from this 1981 successful panel was made. The players from this year’s Division 2 and 6 teams were also presented with their medals by County Board Chairman Pat Cahill. The award for Clubperson of the year went to former Club Chairman and player John Leonard. Senior Player of the Year went to Barry Tierney and the honour of Underage Player of the Year was shared by Kevin Moran and Michael O’Neill. The event was attended by many dignitaries and past associates of the Club and by newly elected Leinster Council Chairman Martin Skelly. Compliments to the organisers and all involved in the preparation of this special event.

LOTTO

Last week’s GAA Lotto draw was held in Slowey’s, Kinard for a jackpot of 1050euros. The numbers drawn were 2, 4, 10 and 28. There was no jackpot winner, nor no match three winners. Special Draw winners of 50euros each were Peter Boylan and Carol Ward.

CONGRATS

Congratulations to Rose Halpin, Listreena, who was the lucky winner of a new Ford Fiesta car in the National Rehab Monthly Draw this month.

SYMPATHY

It is with deep regret that we learned of the peaceful death of Mrs Elizabeth Carrigy, Carne on Friday last surrounded by her family. Elizabeth was a good friend and neighbour who above all else was dedicated to her family and was always kind and considerate to all who knew her. She was a woman of great faith and very popular and well liked within the community. She reposed at her home on Saturday and was then removed to St Anne’s Church, Ballycloghan and was laid to rest in Ardagh following Requiem Mass on Sunday last. To her sons, daughters, grandchildren, relatives and friends we extend our deepest sympathy. May she Rest in Peace.

UNDER 21

Congratulations to Longford Under 21 Football Team who beat Westmeath on Wednesday last in the Leinster Championship Semi-Final. The team now play Wexford in the Leinster Final on Wednesday April 6th 2011. We extend a special congratulations and good luck to our local player Conor Quaine who is on this Under 21 panel.
