RATHOWEN FESTIVAL: Rathowen Village are holding their annual 3 day festival on the weekend of the 5th 6th & 7th of August. Activities are varied for all ages and the itinerary includes:Friday Evening will be the 5K road race in Conjunction with Mullingar Harriers at 8pm, followed by live music & BBQ in Connaughtons Village Inn. Saturday has a farmers market from 2pm in Feericks car park, contact Vinny Maguire 087-2603364 for any interested exhibitors.Kids disco in Rathowen’s community centre from 4-6pm. Live music by Night Owl in Feericks Hotel from 10pm to late along with pig roasting and bar-b-q. Adm: €10Sunday the climax of the weekend is the family field day commencing at 2pm. Attractions include new this year TrialStar, the very best of motorcycle arena trials specialists performing amazing feats of bravery. The riders are amazingly skilled entertainers who thrive on giving a fantastic show for all to see in total safety.Performing their incredible skills over the day will be 5-time Irish motorcycle trials champion plus twice Irish world team champion Andrew Perry and undisputed Irish bicycle trials king 2009 British champion, Aaron Cosbey. During the day the team will perform a number of display’s giving the public a chance to see this highly skilled extreme two wheeled sport which is unique in the fact it is non-speed based. The emphasis is to control the bikes on the obstacles riding onto 8 steps stopping then jumping back down to earth, with and without an engine! All the action will be commented by Trialstar’s David Rogers. Kids sport events & bouncing castles and a donkey derby. Please make sure children’s entries are in for the very popular Rathowen’s Got Talent and Rathowen’s Got Art. Any queries contact Ita Tighe and Denise Fulham or Basil in Sexton’s shop. There will be a display of Vintage Vehicles and trad music on the go along with a second day of the farmers market. Admission to field day is €5 and kids go free!

LOTTO: There was no winner of the Rathowen Lotto Jackpot at 15,000 euor but Mary Murphy from Rathowen village own the second jackpot of 5550 euro. The numbers drawn were 5, 10, 19, 21. The numbers drawn for the second jackpot of €5550 were 3, 7, 11, 17. The three drawn winners of the first draw are Martha McHugh, Declan Donnelly, Marcella Donnelly. The next draw is 8th August 2011 and this draw will have two jackpots one for €15,000 and the next for €1500. The results of that draw will be printed next week. Tickets can be brought in Sexton’s Shop, Rathowen Post Office, Connaughtons Pub and Feericks Hotel, along with several people selling. If you would like to sell envelopes please contact Peter or Liz on 6676189. It’s worth buying a ticket and remember if you’re not in you can’t win!!!!!
