Defibrillator Group - The CADG group have been awarded the Community Heart Safe Award by the Irish Heart Foundation. This award is in recognition for the amount hard work the group have put into the defibrillator scheme in the parish over the past five years and in building up all links in the chain of survival in the case of a sudden cardiac arrest in the area. The official presentation of the Heart Safe award will take place in the Rustic-Inn Abbeyshrule on this Thursday night the 26th May commencing at 8pm.

As this is a community award the defibrillator committee would like to invite everyone from the parish to this special presentation, as it was achieved over the past five years with the help and support of all households and local clubs in the area. Representatives from the Irish Heart Foundation in Dublin will be present on the night to make this presentation and to address the attendance. Also present on the night will be a representative from the ambulance services and the HSE. Refreshments will be served. The CADG intend purchasing a defibrillator for the Kilcurry to Tenelick area of the parish, ensuring that all households in those areas are within five minutes reach of a defibrillator in the event of an emergency. A training course is currently being organised for these areas. Two year re-certification classes will take place in St Sinneachs hall Carrickedmond on the 30th and 31st May. All people from the parish concerned will be contacted in the coming weeks to complete this training course.

Credit Union

Scholarship

Details of the annual Ballymahon & District credit union scholarship for leaving cert students were announced recently. All students who wish to enter the draw must be a member of the credit union on or before the 31st May 2011. All applicants must be commencing a FAS Apprenticeship or a full time certificate, diploma or degree course at university, IT or approved third level college. The scholarship will be paid at a rate of €1000 per annum for a maximum of three years. For more information please contact the credit union office in Ballymahon at 0906432687.

Broadband

A meeting will take place in the Rustic Inn Abbeyshrule on this Wednesday night the 25th May at 8pm to explain and discuss the possibility of getting broadband into the Carrickedmond/Abbeyshrule areas. All interested households in the area are invited to come along to this meeting.

Sympathy is extended to Peggy Lennon Curreachean on the recent death of her first cousin Margaret O Callaghan. May she rest in peace.

Get Well Wishes

Are extended to Pat Dalton who is hospitalised at this time. We all wish Pat a speedy recovery to good health.

First Holy

Communion

Boys and Girls from St Sinneachs national school will make their first holy communion on Saturday next in Carrickedmond church. We wish all these young people well on this very important day in their young lives. Hopefully the sun will shine on this their special day.
