AGM

The local branch of Fine Gael are holding their AGM this Thursday night at 9pm in Farrells lounge. All members are asked to attend. New members welcome to join.

LOURDES INVALID FUND

A number of men from the Bunlahy area are cycling to Croke Patrick and then climbing the famous mountain in aid of the Lourdes Invalid Fund on Sun June 5th. Sponsorship cards are available in local shops. Fundraisers “Take me Out” in Grogans this sat night at 9pm. MC “Butch Cassidy”. Music by DJ Colm. Raffle on the night also. Please support.

BROADBAND

The rural broadband scheme has recently been founded. Any household in the area who can’t receive a service from any provider can apply. Forms are available from myself. A public information meeting will take place in Granard Community Centre on Thursday 2nd June at 8pm.This talk will be given by the Midland Regional Authority of which I am a member representing Longford.

TIDY TOWNS

We ask everybody to be mindful of this years judging which takes place in June and July. Painting gates planting flowers trimming hedges etc. A reminder also that the bins in the village are for litter and not for household rubbish. Anybody caught doing so are liable for a 150 euro fine.

CEMETERY SUNDAY

Cemetery Sunday takes place in both graveyards on the last Sunday in June. We ask all plot owners to please bring home their rubbish weeds flowers etc and not dump in the graveyard or surrounding hedges.

ALZHEIMERS

COMMUNITY GAMES

The Community Games Sports will be held on Wed evening 25th May in Maguire Park starting at 6 o’clock sharp. We need parents to help out on the evening as we have a lot of competitions to get through – with races for under 6’s up to under 16. All winners from U8 upwards will go on to represent Clonbroney in the County finals on Sunday on June 26th in Ballymahon. Best of luck to Aideen Kiernan and Matthew Sheridan who are both representing Longford in the National Finals in Athlone RTC at the weekend.
