FIRST COMMUNION - We congratulate the following children who received their First Holy Communion this Saturday: Callum Brennan, Jamie Byrne, Kiera Farrell, Kyle Hall, Dwayne Higgins, Keyleigh Loran, Nathan Molloy, Charlie Patterson, Frank Patterson and Chanelle Rohan.

We thank all the parents and compliment them for all their efforts. We also thank Mr Farrelly for the lovely music and the other children for their help with the singing. Thanks to to the servers and to Mary for the lovely flowers. Well done to all.

IMPORTANT MEETING

Community Alert meeting on Wednesday 25th May at 8.30pm. Local garda representatives will attend and there will be a chance for people to voice their concerns and look at crime prevention.

SPONSORED WALK

Special notice for all those who wish to take part in a sponsored walk. It will be an outing for the whole family and the dog. Foigha Kenagh Royal canal amenity Group are organising a sponsored walk along the banks of the Royal Canal starting at Foigha bridge at 2.30pm on Sunday May 29th and finishing at Colnahinch Bridge (Halls Lock) . Refreshments will be served to all who partake in the walk. Sponsor cards are available from Berney Matthews Foigha and Pat Newman and Charles Harrison Kenagh. Funds raised will be used to help with the further development of the canal and cater for an event on June 4th when a large flotilla of boats tie up at the island Bridge on June 4th. Your support will be greatly appreciated.

HARVEST FESTIVAL

There will be a meeting of the Longford Harvest Festival Committee in Adie Farrell’s Lounge Lanesboro on Monday night May 30th at 9.30pm sharp. Ballymahon and Lanesboro delegates please take note. The festival has been arranged for Sunday August 28th at 12 noon, weather permitting.

DEATH

We offer sincere sympathy to John Higgins Abbeyderg on the death of his mother Ellen Higgins Cloone Co Leitrim which occurred on Thursday August 12th after a short illness.

COMMUUNITY GAMES

Our community games Sports Day takes place next Sunday May 29th at 2pm at the GAA Grounds. Please come along and support all our young athletes. The swimming finals took place this weekend. The results will be in next week’s notes. A community games meeting o finalise arrangements for Sunday will take place in the El Paso on this Thursday night May 26th at 9.30pm. All interested please attend.
