TIDY TOWNS - The judging season is nearly upon us...1st of June. The weather is challenging but the show must go on – hail or shine. There is still much to be done and the crew will continue every chance they get to meet the deadline of 1st of June.

We hope to get a mechanical sweep done of the village and we would ask you to park your car in any of the car-parks especially in the mornings of Monday 30th and Tuesday 31st so that the sweep lorry can do a good job – there is a lot of dust and debris from the winter and the less cars on the village streets the better. We meet this Saturday 28th at 10am and Monday at 7pm. You can contribute to our tidy village by dealing with litter appropriately and reminding others to do the same. There are boxes for cigarette butts attached to the walls of all the Public Houses –smokers please use them and do not throw cigarette butts on the road or footpath. Remember your kerb appeal and enhance where you can with tidy gardens, greens in front of your businesses, flower boxes or hanging baskets – it all adds to first impressions and to the bigger picture. For updates, check Drumlish Tidy Towns on Facebook and also report any litter/cigarette or dog fouling to Longford Litter Hotline 1850 434 450.

Vandalised Road Signs and Markings

Road signs on the Thownagh/Edenmore Road were torn down and vandalised on Friday night last in what can only be described as most unacceptable behaviour. The road signs, bog-walk signs, signs on poles and stands were all vandalised. These signs cost money – taxpayers money at that and this behaviour cannot be tolerated. The signs were destroyed between the night hours of Friday May 20th and Saturday morning May 21st. Anyone who saw anything suspicious in that area or who has any information about this criminal activity should and must, and is conscience bound to tell the Gardaí
