GAA - The club will hold a function on this Saturday 19th March in the Breffni Arms Hotel & Leisure Complex during which the Medals for the Junior “D” Championship will be presented by former Galway All Star John Divilly.

Also on the night a presentation will be made to recently married players and their wives and Coaching Certificates will also be presented. It should be a great night’s craic and we look forward to a good attendance. Music will be provided by the Dance On Band and there will be a Buffet from 10.00 pm to 11.00 pm – no food after 11.00 pm

Arva Underage Girls training continues in St Patrick’s Hall on Monday evenings at 7.00 pm and all girls from age 6 years upwards will be very welcome. Please bring along your Birth Certificate in order to register. The club are taking part in the St Patrick’s day Parade in the town – everyone please participate

PILGRIMAGE

The Kilmore Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes will take place this year from 27th May to 1st June. Bookings for the Sick Pilgrim Section should be made with Rev Kevin Fay C.C. Tickets for the annual raffle to help fund the Sick Pilgrim section are now on sale throughout the Diocese and your generous support will be greatly appreciated.

BINGO

Bingo continues every Sunday night with a great attendance in St Patrick’s Hall, Arva. There is over €3,000 in prizes on offer with two panels worth €500 each. With the prize money that is on offer it is rightly seen as one of the best sessions in the region – Eye’s down at 8.30 pm sharp.

SEAN NOS

Congratulations are extended to the Sean Nós Dancers who came out on top on Sunday night in the semi final of the RTE All Ireland Talent Show. They wish to sincerely thank everyone who voted for them and appeal for the same support on Sunday next in the final. There is great interest in this area because 2 of the girls are granddaughters of Ita Reilly, Drumhaldry who is originally Ita Donohoe from Killydoon, Loughduff. So get texting and ringing in the final where we wish them the best of luck.

BREFFNI KICKERS

Line Dancing classes continue in the Breffni Arms Hotel and Leisure Complex, Arva on Thursday night’s with a good attendance. Classes for beginners at 8.30 pm and for the more advanced at 9.30 pm.

Killeshandra Drama Group present a Comedy spiced with a little romance in The Corn Mill Theatre Carrigallen and they got great reviews last week. COMPUTER COURSES

The South West Cavan is is running an introduction to Internet and Email for Beginners starting on Monday next 21st March in the Réaltóg Centre, Kilnaleck. This course will be run on Monday afternoons from 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm for 5 weeks finishing on 18th April. The course is open to Adults in receipt of a Social Welfare Payment or Medical Card or anyone over 55 years of age. There is a fee of €20-00 for the course payable at the first class. PARADE

Annual Arva Saint Patrick’s Day Parade takes place at 3.00 pm on Thursday of next week - 17th March - led by the Howard Memorial Pipe Band. There is €1,000 in Prize Money for the Best Novelty Floats and Pageantry Displays / Act’s. A Plaque will be presented to the winner of the Best Dressed Window Display. Entries will be taken on the day at Gerry Ellis and Son’s yard from 2.00 pm onwards. Traditional Music, Song and Dance on the Market Square from 2 o’clock. All the public houses in the town will have entertainment with Ronnie’s Disco in the Old Mill Wheel.

MS CAVAN

The annual Church Gate Collection for Multiple Sclerosis Cavan was taken up last weekend and in Arva amounted to €451-80. Your generous support is much appreciated in these difficult times.

GIVE BLOOD

The Irish Blood Transfusion Service will visit St Brigid’s Community Centre, Lough Gowna on Wednesday 30th and Thursday 31st March from 5.30 pm to 8.30 pm each day.

ACTIVE AGE

Arva Active Age are making a 4 day trip to Killarney – 3 B&B / 4 Dinners – from Monday 13th June to Thursday 16th June staying in the Gleneagle Hotel and including daily tours and nightly entertainment.
